Budd - you really ARE a wine snob. You just don't admit it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hey, can I now add this to my favs so I'm notified? Cool.

McGizmo:
I was using the term "puppy" as a positively inflected slang - for the light. Hopefully I can get a propper tether before the light arrives. That way I won't have to insure it before leaving the house! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Check out the serial number on this one (if you can't see it - it's "2003"). Since my last name is "Clark", it's the "First Year" of the "First (and maybe only) Run" of the McLux, and the "First (and maybe only) Run" of the "Grey Kits"...I think I'll dub it: <font color="blue">"The '2003' McLarc"</font> /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Leo, thanks for todays update at skunklights.com. In answer to the quiz, I see that the bevel from the body to the switch guard is not correct to the origional design. Is that what you are going to have reworked?

Darrel, from Davis? Aha! A CPFer in the same farm! If you see a thin white laser beam from the U-Mall, it's likely me just playing with myself... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

On another note, looks like the McLux builds are beginning to "coalesce"...

Whoa! Just saw this... Howdy neighbor. It is "Darell" from Davis, however. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif Student?

"Was" a student. Biochem grad. Ponderin' Masters program now... University Commons resident, if ya know where that is.

I knew I've seen that EV driven around town from time to time. Small world... Maybe I'll trek by one of these days...

I have a few questions about the McLux parts.

1)For my Arc LS, will there be any 2AA packs (or tubes) available in the future?

2)How firm does the belt clip hold? From previous pictures, i can see that the clip doesn't actually touch the body of the flashlight.

3)How does it smell...like skunk? hehe..just kidding.

If you can't tell...i'm excited about it's release! This is one skunk i won't be running away from!

For (2) the clips are attached to the switch guard via two screws, after they are taken off the clip can be removed and adjusted for tightness according to personal preference.

My pre-production clip holds the McLux onto my Levi pocket just fine. Perfect, in fact. Only incedent I had was when the bottom of my shirt got caught on the clip and flipped it out of my pocket into the toylet /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif It lived!

So, I've done some looking around and haven't found the following info about the McLux:

How much is it?

T

It's about $130.00 plus shipping. That's for the "TK" or Turn Key units. The sale was closed after about 100 units were sold in late January. There are supposed to be "kit" parts available to build one at some point in the near future. See www.skunklights.com for info.

We aren't making any Arc-specific parts in the McLux line. Arc heads will screw onto McLux bodies, but we followed the Surefire convention of keeping the batteries below the battery tube lip so we could more easily make a robust ground path. For any of the McLux packs to work with an Arc head, you need a battery spacer to lift the battery out of the tube a enough to make contact.

As YC stated - as firm as you want it. You can unscrew the clip and bend it to suit. Leaving a gap as you've seen seems to work the best when worn on pants or a belt. If you need to to clip to something really thin like a shirt pocket, you may want the clip to touch the body.

A lot like Leo, actually.

Oops!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif
I keep my McLux in the bed headboard, and have never yet dropped or thrown it into a toliet, urinator, tub, or sink. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
Bet you're flushed with pride seeing that it's water-resistant! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I just took mine into the hot tub that was at the house we rented this weekend. Man, is THAT ever a good way to surprise people!
