I have an Aleph 1 head with a Cree XR-E light engine. Wil the McR-27XR reflectors be stocked again at the shoppe?

Is it possible to modify the stock Aleph 1 reflector for a good beam while using a Cree XR-E light engine?

The McR27XR is based on the McR27L, not the older McR27 the Aleph 1 uses. Your best bet is to use a Lux or Seoul light engine with the McR27 in the Aleph 1. The Cree should fit (the McR27 has a large hole in the bottom) but the pattern will be wrong. If you decide to try using a cree in it, make sure you have the contacts isolated from the reflector. You don't want to short it out on the metal reflector.

Good luck,

Thanks for the advice on shorting the Cree, Schiesz. Does this mean the McR-27XR reflector won't fit in the Aleph 1 head?

I don't think it will fit, but I don't know for sure. I know the McR27L will not fit, and the McR27XR is based on the 27L, but it says it is shorter.

It won't fit. The McR-27XR is much longer than the McR-27 that went into the Aleph1 head.

Thanks Bogus and Schiesz. I won't be needing a McR-27XR since I had intended to use it in an Aleph 1.
