I've got a question about the work envelope of mini mills.

when the specs say X-travel 8 inches, and Y-travel 4 inches, is that overall motion or relative from center?

In other words is that Y travel 4 inches back and 4 inches to the front, or 2 inches to the front and 2 inches to the back?

I'm thinking the former, because the latter doesn't really make sense.

thanks!

Travel is an indicator of overall/total distance or travel on the axis.

Also this is not the max size of the part that can be machined (without re positioning)... that is reduced by the diameter of the cutter being used plus a little room for error!
