Mine has arrived, and it is very impressive

Anyone get theirs yet?

Mine arrived today thank you - SST-50 DD Very Lo/Very High running AW's IMR 16340 battery.

I had to wait till it got dark to see just how good it is - :twothumbs WOW, it produces a huge "wall of light" from a compact package. Definitely my brightest light so far, and by a noticeable margin.

I'll certainly be able to impress a few friends with it this weekend. They aren't flashaholics (yet), but they do enjoy seeing whatever my latest "show-off" light is.

Got it today!

Seems to be working, some flickering though.
I have only tested it indoors in dark room so far. LED seems to be centered well. Beam is floody with a smooth transition from wide hotspot to spill.

Spill wideness is roughly about the same as in my Preon1.
Hotspot is somewhat larger and spill is quite a bit brighter. Hard to estimate brightness Or lumens. Is brighter than Preon1, that I can say. Going to test it more outside tonight.

Tested.

Got out some 3.60->3.65A from tailcap with fresh 16340IMR.

Throws about as "much" as my Preon. At first look does not seem to be that much brighter than Preon, but when you realize the size of that huge & bright spill and big hotspot...
There must be some lumens out there to get an area of that size lit up

Lights up the whole backyard nicely!

BTW that low-low -setting is nicely low enough

e: the heat build-up is not at all that bad compared to what I expected. Suits well enough for my short term uses!

I am interested, but I'm having some difficulty deciding whether I'd prefer the 2800mA SST-50, or the DD two-mode SST-50 version.

If I could clear up a couple of questions, I'd be in better shape:

Is the 2800mA SST-50 available in a two mode configuration, or only 5?

In the most general sense, why do some prefer the direct drive option, aside from the fact that you can squeeze a few more lumens out for a short time?

Thanks for any answers you can provide...

After all that, I've decided to order the SST-50 DD 2-mode (L/H).

:paypal:

(Unique Transaction ID #72590524YS0693123)

Any estimate you can give me on when it will arrive?

Thanks!

PM coming with my mailing address, in case PP doesn't show it.

Just a quick post to let you know that the light arrived safely in the UK exactly 2 weeks after shipping, so your estimate was spot on, thanks.

The SST-90 looks huge inside a small head, but produces a massive wall of light. It's a SF L4 style flood, just a whole lot brighter!

Not tried it outside yet, but it looks as if it's going to be perfect as a backup dog walking light when I need to _REALLY_ light up the woods.

Not sure about the Strobe/SOS modes, so next time I think I would go for the 2 mode low/high. Maybe next month

Cheers

Hello!
Do you think I can still get one of these? :D
How long do you think it would take to ship it to me?
Also, would it be possible if you can construct this in a different casing? :D Is the current casing durable?(can survive a 4ft drop)

thanks!

What run-time would you recommend for running this on High?
Also, when do you estimate your next shipment to be? I'm unsure which address I'll be at by the time you're ready to ship xD
