I'm looking for a MM drop in that doesn't have heat issues but is bright with good runtime. Basically, a light I can turn on and leave on without worrying that I'm frying the led. I know the contenders, and have done alot of reading....

TLE-5 luxeon (K2 as well? where?)
Nite Ize 1W
MJ 2AA

The SSC TLE-5EX is too much heat IMHO. The runtime is also not where I'd want it to be for a general purpose around the house light.

Which of these offers the most light, best beam, flattest runtime without heat concerns?

Well you could try this one: Here

He is a German Seller and claimes to produce them in Germany with the help of a small manufacturer.
He uses an Edixeon KLC8 ( or KCL8?) you know what i mean...
Here is a Video of the MM-Pill : Here

Hope this helps.

The Terralux gives you about 5.5-7 hours runtime, doesn't seem to get hot (runs at 1/2 the current of the EX version).

I intend to mod mine with a Seoul led to get twice the output at the same runtime.

The SMJ is great, similar brightness to the Luxeon, and double the runtime (I think). THe tint is a bit blue, but if you can handle that, it's a great unit.

The Nite-ize is similar to the Luxeon Terralux I believe. I may get one to test soon.

I am also experimenting with various reflectors, I like the Kathod ones from Photon fanatic. Using a stippled one for pure flood with the terralux (have not tried smooth yet). The IMS17 is great with the SMJ drop in (the stock one is not bad too, but not as smooth).

I don't like the stock terralux one much, poor construction quality, ugy-lish beam. It functions okay tho.

Have fun!
