hotwire to my xenophoto osram 12v 100 w with reflector

Cool! really burns the paper!!!!!!! with the ceiling fan off ..... :)

but smoke were coming out of the battery sets, oooops

the standard battery holders, melt........................ :(

next challange : got to mod my own battery holder, arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

and when got another set of spare change shall then get the maglite :(
maybe from the "ang bao" / red packet during chinese new year ......

jobless cum super poor flasholic ....

shall be posting further updates .... mod a mag from singapore .....

Re: First Mag Mod WOW

A mag mod without a mag? hahaha...
Keep it up roadie! You'll complete it eventually :D

Re: First Mag Mod WOW

dop my cheap multi-meter die on me when i was testing the voltage while charging the batteries ..... arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

DONT buy cheap multimeter!!!!!!!!

Now, is really charging 'blindy' , got to be discreet on the charging time, human timer

:)

Re: First Mag Mod WOW

Arrrrrrrrrrr Good News ..... bad news

i went to my local hardware shop and managed to find a 'fake' maglite and bought it abt only 12 us dollars, think i only need the housing.....

turn out to be almost same as a real maglite, where same methods to remove the switch.

Suddrnly realised it was actually a 2 D only!!!!!!!! arrrrrrrrrrr during the process of removal, switch broke(first time doing this). so cant return it .......

managed now to squeeze in 9 aa cells into in , in a very odd shape and shall be having a external switch BUT seems cant keep the batteries connected to each other , sigh ..

shall find more diy .....

arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr why!

:( :( :(

Re: FAKE Mag Mod :)

YES YES my first mod a mag has finally taken its FORM, but with no tailcap ....... :(

for me, as long it works can liao la, burning papers :)

shall try to post a pic via my webcam(the only type of camera i have)

YES!

Re: FAKE Mag Mod :)

things start to touch up at abt 1 cm away of the bezel, blinding range at 2 to 3 metres than light all spread away as i am using the osram reflector light series, lots of flood, hmmmm, kinda of good when i can light up the whole forest floor when something is not right ..... :)

might be making one more with good tight focus in future, see la ...... when got spare cash ..... this time shall get a real maglite torch instead .... :)

Went to remod my mod-a-mag when there was a short circuit, after disassemble found one bad cell ......

then spends countless hours, squeezing all 9 AA (3 x 3 ) into the 2 D cell maglite with a click- on/off tail .... and a charger plug where the orginal on/off hole is, to ease charging ....

Now, its time to play again ..... :)

currently using 12 volt 50 watt flood osram lens ...., old bulb

Need to get a 50 watt or something similar, with narrow spot abt 10* .....

jus going shopping when got spare changes ..... :)

As found that at 100 watts, the connections cant really take it well .

anyway, this will be my EDC. so a 50watt is ok la ..... :grin2: :grin2: :grin2: :grin2: :grin2: :grin2:

Jus bought a no more in production (last one on the shelf) Osram 46880 12V 65W 10* Titan with glass ....

Nice ...... not as idea as a 100w xenophoto i have but, with a tighter spot, less amp at abt 5.5amps = more runtime ( EDC )

Somehow, at short range < 10 metres, my P91 D3 still is abit tighter and whiter than this setup, but its ok.

shall spend some burning than recharge than try again when the battery is 'fully' charged.

yea !

:)

OH ... it only cost me S$6.00, which abt US$4 +/-, cheap right? :)

one bad cell, one bad switch caused a sat day repairing.

:(

but everything has gone to normal again, luckily mod by myself, else will have lots of problem of "sending" the battery pack back to US!

:) :) :)

one more battery die over the weekend .... left with only 8 batteries left .... :(

shall be building a ROP ..... see can find a 6v 10/20w bulb around ... :)

yea!

Good project! I should try something like this one day...
The batteries die one by one from overcharge... sad

Could someone send this poor guy a real Maglite to work with? And maybe some parts, real battery adaptors etc.,? It's too painful to read his progress :(

+1 to this - I think Roadie has a very good attitude!

Roadie, how are you exactly charging the batteries? Usually the batteries should not die so fast. Just thinking how I could help you to keep your batteries healthy longer.

oh ... due to its a first time modding such a project, and first time owning a rechargeable batteries ... well had many trials and errors to had learn along the way.

short ciruit has toasted the pack a few times.... :(

well, shall learn from mistakes ... :) i hope

Next time will be better ... :)

the only charger i have is a 300ma Minwa 'smart' charger, which usually charge abt 7 to 9 hrs, DMM measure before and after ...

after initial when the project got running, maybe also failure might have occur didnt know how to form a battery pack properly ....

now best is to get some job and save some cash for some real 'parts' :)

dop after a few more discharging and charging on the leftover batteries. Now only left with 6 .... :( , soldered to a pack and currently are in the pink of health .....

what can i do with 6 ....., get a 6 volt 20 watt MR16 or some leds .... sigh
