i'm waiting for my "other" KL4 i ordered over the marketplace from last week and waiting for the MC-E 5A led emitter i just ordered today
it'll be direct-driven by AW's IMR-16340, in a one cell host (i'll sometimes swap the body for longer runtime in a E2e body with AW's 17670 cell)

any talented takers that can handle this hopefully simple project 1-2 weeks from now?

if yes, total cost for labor, with USPS 1st-Class shipping fee, package(s), and cc paypal fees?

.

Have you considered keeping the KL4 circuit (boost) and setting up the MC-E 5A in parallel configuration ala Lux V emitter? You could up the current to the LED via a different sense resistor. The MC-E would run in regulation, and be plenty bright.

i want to run the LED at full spec..... hence, direct-drive

i'm sure AW's IMR 16340 will keep it regulated somewhat
besides, it'll be cheaper and less labor

There will be heat concerns DDing the MC-E at full current.

A direct swap with the MC-E running 2s2p will be three times as bright as the stock KL4 with no more heat.

whats the current draw running 2s2p?

i understand the heat issue when running direct-drive.... it'll be used for short bursts to WOW friends and co-workers

~1.25A ?

i want the sun in my hands! :lolsign:
to reiterate, it'll be turned on for short bursts only

direct-drive.... ~3A :naughty:

o i c...... fully-regulated?

hey mudman_cj...... would you happen to have some time to perform the mod for me in 1.5-2 weeks from today?

.

2s2p with the stock circuit ran a bit more than that off of an IMR16340 - more like 1.8A according to member thegeek.

Other members seemed to have varying results, I think it may be a factor of the Vf of the particular led used.
