modding with a q5 emitter

Well, the bezel might be one part with the body but you can unscrew the very top, the part that holds the window/lens and the reflector in. Then you should see the LED with a silver lining. Remove the lining and you should see the LED star on top of a metal "pill". Unscrew the pill and you should be able to unsolder the LED and solder on a new Q5. Reverse the steps to put the light together.

thanks for your reply .
is the metal pill the base that the star sits on ? does it unscrew somehow? i have taken out reflector but it is a bit too deep to work on.
is there an easy way to remove this "pill" ?

The entire heatsink (where the star is connected) is screwable. You can use a small long enough screwdriver to stick in one of the star empty corners and screw it out.
I replaced the original emitter with a Q5 WC and it is now bright as hell !

thanks , does it screw out through the lens end or the battery end? my q5s should arrive from dx next week , cant wait , how much brighter would you estimate it at?

It should unscrew from the lens end. with the Q5, it should be about 20-30% brighter.
