The email came about an hour ago, and that's a decent discount for the items you can't easily find on eBay or at ENCO.

Enter WEB30A in the promotional code box in the Shopping Cart when ordering online or mention the code when ordering via phone to receive the discount. Offer ends at 11:30pm EST today.

Don't forget to crosscheck Enco's site if they carry the same item. Sometimes even with the 30% at MSC/J&L Enco is still cheaper.

The Free shipping coupon also stacks!!

Another $400 gone :(

I'm needing an internal threading bar (indexable, with inserts) for my HF 8x12 lathe. Since I'm new to machining, can any of the machining gods here on CPF make a recommendation on a good buy to take advantage of this sale?

Update: After a little research, I think I found a couple picks:
Iscar internal threading bar
Iscar external threading bar
But I'm a little confused on the inserts I'll need.
Here's the catalog page
Any advantages to the various pitch ranges or should I just get the ones that cover the full range?
I'm assuming the ERM and IRM notations are to fit external/internal bars?
Any recommendations?

This is what I used on my 8x14, and I think it is also the same one Mac uses (if memory serves me right). I am still using the second point:

SECO Snap-Tap, part #SNR000625-60-16, Enco part # 619-3811

That model seems to require a different insert for each thread pitch. Am I understanding that correctly?

You have two basic types of inserts for these types of threading tools:
- generic or partial profile: They will cut a range of threads. You use the same insert for many threads.
- full profile: They will only cut one thread. You need one for each thread.

Although my tool supports both inserts, I am still using the generic/partial profile insert - it works awesome ;)

I ended up buying the bar recommended by Will with a couple partial profile inserts and a small diameter solid carbide interior threading tool. I've just got used to which direction to turn the handles on the lathe, all these new tool specs and nomenclatures will take some getting used to. I just started looking at internal threading bars a few days ago so wasn't up to speed yet but I didn't want to miss the sale.

PW: Thanks for the link on the threading. I'll need to do some serious learning on that site.

My order just arrived and MAN what a deal the 3/8 Circle carbide boring bar arrived with 10 TiAIN inserts instead of 5 :) all for $89!! The inserts list for over $10 each!

I know that you mean!. Thanks to a heads-up from Barry I got 3 of those solid cabide Circle boring bars (but with only one insert in each bar) for something like $189 -> retail was almost $700 for the 3 of them
