Has anyone tried using multiple emitters with an aspheric (concentrator) lens? If there is not a single light source at the center, but rather several close to the center, how does that effect the beam? I've been meaning to try this for a while, but have not gotten around to it.

I've got three 17mm aspheric lenses on the way. I'm going to try my hand at a multi-emitter multi-lens tri-build. Wish me luck!

These lenses are designed with a point source of light as ideal. Multiple emitters do not provide anything close to a point source.

That makes sense. I haven't worked much with this kind of lens and can't really picture what the beam characteristics would be with multiple sources. Given that you can focus one emitter to project a a "picture" of the emitter (which itself is not a single point), I thought it might be possible to focus multiple emittters to the same kind of projection, although it would seem that the further you move away from the focal point, the more likely you would get undesirable results.
