Multipurpose P7 build! Comments and help!

Hi,

I'm planning on making a multipurpose light with a separate battery pack. The size of light I'm looking at is about like this:

The light will be used both as a bikelight with some easy fastening system on the handlebars and I want to be able to fasten it on the shoulder of my backpack to use on walks in the dark. As i said before, the design will be similar to the cncdelite one with all home machined parts.

The part list I've got so far looks like this:

Does anyone have experiences with these parts or suggestions on better solutions?

The other problem i have is that the front cap (the part that holds the lens down on a flashlight, what's it called by the way?) won't be possible to make in the mechanical workshop, because of its thin dimensions and it having its threaded part on the inside. Is it possible to buy this part from somewhere? Suggestions?

I'M not going to type my opinion on the P7 and the parts, hopefully they all work great.

The easiest solution to Your problem were the obvious one: the common mod-a-lights-head

check DX or Kaido for a light that offers the size You need. These will probably be wide head/deep reflector led "thrower" lights, or maybe also triple/quad lights.
Get all inside out, use the sink as Your P7 sink, use just the head - screw the body.
That way You have all parts (body, bezel, glass, sink, seals, ...) in a very nice package, way more beautiful any homemade attempt will look alike.
Just add Your bar mount and an end plate holding switch and connectors --> ready.

I was thinking that a Mag could be chopped above the switch hole and capped off with a hole in the cap for direct wires running to a seperate battery source with switch, kinda like a caver or coon light. All you would need is a magmount for handlebars or wherever else you plan to use the light. I would assume you could even make a head lamp on bike helmet or contruction hard hat. This would be way cheaper than buying those $400 bike lights. With 3D cells, you should have about 2 1/2 hours runtime and 700-800 lumen for about $100 or so, not bad. Battery pack could be with RC connectors for quick pack changes and quick charging. If you cap off a 3D Mag body, you could use it and the stock switch as your battery pack, basically the head will be remote, all other parts standard.

If you hate mags, then this mod would be useless, or perhaps useful for someone else. Perhaps I'll just shut up and make one.
