Is the Aeon an updated version of the Ion?

Thanks in advance

Re: MuyShondt Aeon Question

Nope, the Aeon is basically a Nautilus updated to a Cree R2 led and then crammed into the smaller form factor of a CR2 light. The beam patterns of the Nautlius and Aeon are very similar.

I have both, and it's clear that the Ion started the concept that later became the Aeon. Take a look at the photo below:

Aeon2.jpg

Nautilus on top, Ion middle, Aeon bottom. Ion & Aeon are nearly identical in size/shape.

There is a big difference when you look into the reflector:

aeon4.jpg

Aeon left, Ion right.

The Aeon puts out a Nautilus-type beam, where the Ion is all flood.

Quite a bit of Aeon info here:

Re: MuyShondt Aeon Question

hmm...
the R2 isn't US made...so much of the emitter is silver [aka, not filled with phosphor]

I'm hoping to get one, not to hijack the topic but is the switch interface like the ion? twist for low, twist all the way for high?

Re: MuyShondt Aeon Question

It's a great little light, always in my right pocket. Tons of useful output on high, and a nice low that's often all I need. One battery so far, after about three months use.

Re: MuyShondt Aeon Question

from enrique himself, emphasis mine:

External aesthetics are similar to that of the CR2 Ion, but the concept behind the light is entirely derived from the Nautilus; that is, a small pocket light that produces a good, well-rounded beam useful for illuminating things at a distance, while providing a long runtime with high brightness – the electronic and mechanical aspects are all a Nautilus in miniaturized form. I'm pleased with the results. :)

Re: MuyShondt Aeon Question

Quite possibly the best EDC on the market if you want something smaller than the Novatac, Ra, PD, E1L type of lights.

Simply fantastic and always with me.

Re: MuyShondt Aeon Question

I've EDC'd the McLuxIII-PD before....I hope this ΛӘΘИ might be able to perform the same duty only hanging on my neck and nesting in a tucked shirt, where losing the light becomes nearly impossible. I almost lost the McLux once, haven't used clip on EDCs since then, either pocket carry or via holster:shrug:

I bought one from lighthound, hardcoat black...lets see what it looks like:thumbsup:

I think that you will absolutely love it.

Re: MuyShondt Aeon Question

There is no other light that even comes close to matching the Aeon as a keychain light, IMO.

Re: MuyShondt Aeon Question

Wow, I have to say I am impressed by the entire line of lights. Definitely interesting. They are as much a piece of jewelry as they are an efficient quality tool.

Color me jealous.

Re: MuyShondt Aeon Question

I'm with the gang on this one.

The Muyshondt Aeon is hands down the best EDC light available. Small, extremely well
made, great beam, and amazing runtimes.

My black Type III hangs around my neck 24/7.

Enrique has knocked it out of the park with his Aeon.

CONGRATS on your black Aeon. Now don't be shy . . . show us a pic!

Nothing special on the lanyard. Just a 550 ball that gets shortened up at night.

Very well said, the Aeon is absolutely F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C!
