My crazy wife thinks my nightstand lights (those within arms reach for nightime use, bump-in-the night use, or just available to toss in a pocket, edc use) are too numerous. I thought she was completey nuts. Then I took a step back and looked at what I had on the nightstand at that momment. (neatened it up a bit for the photo)

I think it has something to do with the Atwood being too close to the edge, and my daughter could get to it....still not sure, though.

I knew CPF was the plae to get a well reasoned and objective response.

She may actually have a point. Why not spread them out all over the house, so instead of just being able to reach a flashlight when you're next to your bed, you can have one at arm's reach anywhere in the house?

Trust me, when she finds a torch in the bathroom she'll never complain about your nightstand again.

Such a thing can happen...

I clearly see the problem : There are 3 lights double in that picture. Move one of all kind to the bathroom (if there's none of that kind already there, if so, move on to the WC or the guest-room) and check if no doubles are to be found there which you can use in the bedroom!

Everything's gonna be allright, be happy your wife noticed this!

Oh, this isn't even 1/3 of my lights. There are lights all over the house. This just ahppens to be a "colelction point" that is very visible to her. There are two lights in the bathroom already.

Even the double lights have some differences, and are for different uses. The 6p's, for example have everything from 60 lumen floods to 1000 lumen spots. The quarks are neutral, cool, size differences, etc.

I wish I could keep my lights on the nightstand like that but I can't because my cat would methodically knock each one off.

Your wife is right.

Keep only one and put all other flashlights in your trash can...don't throw them, lay them down delicately !
Don't forget to tell me where you live in PM.

Happy to help you to preserve your household's harmony.

Or you can do what I do, and make your bed the starting location for everything you do, so you can just grab a torch as you get out of bed and you'll always have one with you. :D

I see your problem. You have to get rid of half of them. Start on left and pull out every second one and send it to me. (I really need the single `123 surefire to place on my hat bill. Like a rally light bar. The perfect nightstand light.)

That is my daughter's flashlight. It's a milky-mod that Scott did for her, lasts about forever and a half on a CR123 (still on its first battery, gave it to Abby for her second birthday in April, and it has been left on overnight twice now.). Puts out maybe 8 or 10 very diffuse lumens, and even a two year old that likes to throw things and "clean them" in the bathtub can't break it. Sometimes she uses it when she wakes up early and helps me pick out clothes without making up her mother.

I've seen far more on other nightstands.

I can only imagine mine is not the worst around these parts. I keep most of my lights either in one of the drawers below this, scattered throughout the house, in the car, by the back door (there are four high power LEDs, two HID's, and abotu 6 high power hotwires in ready-state by the back door), and of course about 20 potential lights in the basement by the workbench that occassionaly come to life.

The crazy part is that I didn't even notice I had many lights there. It just seemed so natural and normal.
