A while back I posted on here re help choosing a LED torch for my gf who is an ICU nurse for a hospital here in Perth, Australia. I decided to finally settle and take the gamble for a Preon Special run warm white LED (Black) torch from 4 Sevens. The torch took a bit over 2 weeks to get to me due to obviosuly postage etc etc.

Any how when I got the torch it also came with 2x AAA Duracells but I did not use them and installed 2 brand new Sanyo AAA Eneloops instead (sorry Duracell).

Anyhow today I gave her, new torch to use in her work or job and boy ohh boy is she wrapped, just loves it and could not stop thanking me, absoluetly wrapped she was. Looked like she never owned a decent torch in her job before.

Re the LED light on this torch, though its a warm white LED I found its colour to be very close to that of an incan and its also quite bright on high setting.

Over all a very nice and smart looking torch indeed, only thing now is that she needs to look after it.

I wonder how many people in the ICU she'll manage to convert to preons ;)

Glad she liked it! I loved my Preon II, but it was too cool for me. Definitely thinking of picking up a warm or neutral version.

I've never heard the expression "wrapped" before. I assume it means happy/excited?

Now get a neutral white and check what she likes best, you get the other one!!! :D

I purposely got her the limited run warm white tint as she works as a nurse in ICU and I thought this type of light would be more appropriate or suitable to her type of job she does, I didnt think that the cool white would be the correct type of light.

Over all a very smart and nice AAA torch indeed.

I bought the same Preon II warm and it should arrive today... can't wait to compare tints with my other lights. Maybe I'll use my Pebeo glass paint to try to match the tints on my other flashlights.

I received the very same Preon2 in warm white yesterday, and i just LOVE it. The beam pattern is awesome for close distance work, it is floody with totally smooth transition from the large hotspot to the spill. The UI is great and it can be also very bright on high. I can't imagine a better penlight for a doctor or a nurse. A perfect choice indeed! :)

I received my Preon 2 warm yesterday, took a week and a half to get to Sydney, including being opened by customs... It's wonderful! I did the same thing as Albinoni, and swapped out the duracells for eneloops straight away.
Just out of curiosity, where do other Aussies get their eneloops from? It can get pretty pricey by the time you ship them, I bought a couple of packets when **** Smith's had them on sale...
I'm glad your girlfriend likes the Preon, it'll serve her well :)

I got my eneloops from extremetorches.com.au (got sonyo 2700's as well but I don't think they stock them anymore).

Can't speak jighly of them enough.

Cheers,
Nova

Just checking, for doctors/nurses use is warm white or neutral white preferred?

It says they're $26 there? Walk into any **** Smith Electronics and they're $22. I was lucky to get an 8-pack from japan when my friend went there a couple months back, it was about ~$30AUD, probably cheaper if they shopped around a little but a good price nonetheless. I probably wouldn't bother shipping them from overseas though, batteries get real heavy to ship.

I love my preon II. It rides in my adirondack sheath with my BRKT little creek on a daily basis :D
