Well, I was bored this morning so I decided to go down to my messy basement and take a crack at some beamshots. Camera was a Canon S2IS set at ISO100 f4.0 2" Daylight white balance. This is my first time doing this, so go easy on me

First off the contestants:

MagCharger, 9P, Ultrastinger, TL-3, 2D ROP-LE, and my trusty A2

The camera is about ~45ft. from the wall, and the light was positioned directly to the left of the camera. Next we have a contol shot:

Then for the heck of it, I pulled out my X990 HID(not pictured) and snapped a few pics of it in action indoors

This is one of the reasons why I love my HID lights. Sure people may call them big & rather heavy but the outputs they can reach are amazing. :)

I think my X990 "looks" as it should perform compared with my other lights. It is big, but it's no thor or costco HID in size for sure. I do not have any problem carrying it for extended periods, I just use the shoulder strap to take some of the weight of my arm(~6lbs starts to get a little heavy after an hour of hiking).

And you are right about output, this thing is a beast! Even my old 4000 lumen "Torch" appeared weak in real world comparison.....just because the X990 focuses it's lumens better. When I fired the torch up outside in the pitch black, it was like someone just turned a street light on in my backyard...incredible flood! But it won't even hold a candle in the throw department to the big, bad 35W HID. Those indoor beamshots don't even do the X990 any justice...the show needs to be taken outdoors to really let that thing shine :)

Hey, those were great Strauss! I really enjoyed the X990 at the end...just for fun

The X990 is comparable only to Mac's Torch. It deffinately beats it however. HID vs Incan... no contest. It is nice using all that light with a reflector that can focus it to a nice spot. The torch just throws the light everywhere.

Torch = fun with fire.
X990 = practical use.

The X990 is perfect for those tactical night missions to places such as the CAVE.

Was the Magcharger 1160 shot with the stock battery?

What kind of runtime do you get? You run it with a mica shield?

Excellent shots!

Yes, it was on the stock battery hot off the charger. I do have a mica shield installed, and I get about 30min. of depleting runtime.

X990 looks like a good light for pointing behind your car when that ediot won't turn off his high beams

Thanks! It looks very close to the 2D ROP High.
