I just scored this 3-speed Sundrop LE from Bernie the K, and popped it into one of my AMC mules, and I love it! It's so much easier on the eyes than the other (Q5) one.

I put an orange boot on it so I can pick it out of the herd on my desk more easily.

I have a couple of the MCPCB mounted Nichias, and I'm seriously thinking about asking one of the modders to build me a triple Mule LE.

Nice little LE, Don!

I built myself a sundrop-style light....no reflector, just bare LED....and it's amazingly useful as a light. I'm sure the real thing, with the highCRI led, is even better.

Re: My little Sundrop Mule

I went through my bag of lenses and other optics, and came across a 19mm x 20mm pyrex aspheric I bought from Surplus Shed a couple of years ago.

Lo and behold, it fits! I had to use a thinner inner o-ring, but then the outer ring locked the lens in perfectly.

It's de-focused, because it's too far from the emitter, but it concentrates the beam enough to make a sharper Mule beam. Pretty good in candle-mode as well!

You beat me to the punch, you so-and-so. I have a pack of lenses on-order from DX as we speak. :duh2:

Shoulda been here three weeks ago, too. They kept delaying the order. :ohgeez:

Looks good though; nice to know my idea wasn't crazy after all.
