So, just to be stupid, I am using this optic, 7 Seoul emitters, a CCHIPO and turning a housing/heatsink... Will not be very practical, but a fun project.

Awesome, can't wait to see how it turns out. Should be interesting to see how compact/light you can keep the light and how darn bright it ends up being!

Will be interesting to see what sort of beam you get off those - i ordered some of those awhile ago -but they never came thru.

Have you tried sitting one on an emitter to see how the beam looks yet?

Cheers

I'm really interested how this turns out and what you use to power it. I had the same idea and posted last night about it. Where did you get it?

So, due to a lack of free time, this project has been on hold. Just picked it back up and am motivated to get it moving.

Just cut the holes for the LED's and stand-offs into a chunk of aluminum that is getting some cooling fins cut into it.

Will be powered by a 14.4 battery and a cChipo. Pot for dimming. Trail tech connectors.

After the fins are cut, this piece will be pressed into a piece of aluminum tubing, with a bezel and lens on it.

Intention is to mount on handlebar with a bottle cage mounted battery.

The Polymer Optics solution is a good one. I'm currently building a helmet light using them, The only difference is it's only a triple LED.
The one thing that does seem to be limiting is the selection of beam angles. I'm using 2@6 degree and one @6x25. There is no medium beam option. The narrow beam does give some nice punch down range but not much spill, which is where the 6x25 comes in.
Overall I think they're a nice solution for making a compact lighting system.
They're also very easy to mount and there is no grinding of the base like many other optics.
Steve Knievel just made an amazing 13 LED light that uses the same optics, look for the post recently.

Hi Ovlovder
Those holes where the slug of the emitter sits look a little deep? Why don't you have a flat surface there?
Will probably have overheating problems otherwise.

Was the flattest bit I have. Wish I had funds for mill/lathe. Will fill the voids with AA. I guess part of the fun is making due with what I have/can justify buying currently. At this point its okay if it isnt super-bomber, dunk-proof, ultra-reliable etc, etc. Just want a fun project.

Ovlovder

is this Polymer Opcisc? If yes is it cluster 7 or 7 singel optics?

Where did you buy it?

Thank you,
Iztok
