I have been interested in the N30 HID spotlight for about 2 years now. Finally ordered one several days ago for my birthday. Got it yesterday. Was on the road trucking, so my wife charged it up for me, so I could play with it when I got home this AM. Well, I tried it out in the house, and the bulb puts out a very very blueish tint. So blue in fact, it makes me sick to my stomach, and made me feel disoriented. Even long after I have looked at the beam - I am still feeling ill and my eyes seem off focus. I wonder why blueish tint lights make me feel physically ill?:ironic: OK, back to the blueish HID. I had no idea the N30 put out such a blueish tint, I thought the 4200k was more white. Had I known it was so blue, I never would have spent the $166 - shipping included...:sigh:

PS, I fired up the Thor 15 million candle power spotlight, and it has a nice white/yellowish warm tint, and the color doesn't effect me at all.

Did I get a bad bulb? or what - any ideas?

Thanks, Litemup

The six N30's I have seen do not have any level of blue tint to them at all. They would actually be closer to the color of incandescents in my opinion. Maybe a defective bulb?

OK, just shined it down the hall, still not dark outside. But, I've got to hit the road again and won't be back for a couple days.
I showed the light to my wife, and she says a very blueish greenish tint. Then I fired up the Thor, and she agreed - completely different, more like a "normal" incondesent". I'm sure it must be a deffective bulb.
I guess the best thing for me to do, would be check it out when I return home again at night, with several different lights and compare. Then, give Battery Junction a phone call and see if they can send me another bulb for an exchange.
Thanks!

The N30's have a rather green hue to them before they are broken in fully. Do you own any 6000K HID's so that you can have a point of reference for color temp?
That would be very helpful in determining whether or not the bulb is the right color Temp in that light. I am guessing your light has the right color temp bulb, because a 6000K bulb looks true blue with NO green in it.

The the bulb will get warmer in color and the light will get brighter when it is broken in fully.

Take Care,

mtbkndad, OK, that explains it. Yes, definitely a greenish tint - more so than blue. Happy to hear the color will work out with time. Was very concerned about the greenish blueish tint. Really like this little light though - so small, yet, so powerful. Almost as bright as my "15 million" cp thor right out of the box.
This light will stay with me in the big truck, along with my mag led and inova tactical.

Thanks:thumbsup:, Chris

PS, strange how the blueish or greenish color tint lights make me feel noxious.

I've got a problem. I wanted to let the light run for a while, the light shuts off after about 5 minutes???? I turn the switch off, then back on, and the light will imediately go out. I have to let it sit a while before it will run for a few minutes again.
Maybe I should just call Battery Junction??
