I don't want to do the brush anodize removal trick and AW's deep tail caps don't look stock. Any cleaner solutions?

If your 18650s are unprotected, or (maybe) very short protected ones, you can do the MagRing mod with no ring -- I ran a Mag61 this way for quite a while.Theres GOT to be a way of mimicking the download's foam pad thing without the ring.
Not enough length for 2x18650, that's why download had a Mag ring & 2x18650 kit, need to extend the mag a few mm to fit 2x18650 even without any spring.
The only way to fit 2x18650 & maintain the stock look is to shorten the bottom of the Mag switch, you can shave off a few mm, also shave the top & move the switch up by 2mm or so (Off center switch post but still clicks). I am not sure that's enough, might need to also thin the tail cap bottom from inside just a bit.
It's the size of the bottom end of a C-mag tail spring -- which is enough to know, since the easiest way to make one is to cut down a C-Mag tail spring. With downloads old kit, 2 unprotected 18650s will fit without the "ring" behind the tailcap. All you really need is a small piece of foam, some braided copper wire, a tube to hold the Batts, and a split ring a touch bigger than the inside diameter of the tailcap (please don't ask what size, I have no idea :shrug. I put together one last week to run a 5cell 'numstar bulb.

2xUnprotected 18650 is a bit risky from safely angle.
I have done it as simple as this, its neat and clean. Then you use a spacer to hold the batteries.
Not sure it will help but the batteries fit easy with this spring. Hardware store spring.
