I am buying my first LED flashlight today .

I just don't know what battery charger and batteries to get. Here is what I am thinking unless you guys know a similar priced or lower priced option that is better.

Option 1:
Sanyo Eneloop pack. About $30 and it comes with a variety of batteries. This seems like a good option since we have a little one and we always could use extra batteries.

Option 2:
Ultrafire wf-139 $20

Protected Ultrafire 14500 $14 for 2
$34 total

This option will probably be brighter and may have a longer runtime.

Option 3:
La Crosse Tech Charger $30

4 pack of eneloops $12
$42 total

Option 4:
Sanyo 4 pack with charger $16.50

Also with how do these chargers work. Are they timed based or do they go off or signal me when they are fully charged.

By the way I am hoping to buy the Nitecore Tribute Edition D10.

Cheap but good option is to pick up the well regarded Duracell mobile charger (CEF23) from EBay here for $17 shipped. It comes with 2 LSD nimh AAs which should tide you over nicely with the D10 until you can score a deal on some Eneloop/Duraloops.

If you want your battery to perform you need to spend money on a battery charger

I recommend the Maha MH-C9000

I have alot of AA nimh that are bening used all the time wheather it for my Fenix TK40 or for my Nikon flash, i need my battery on top form and this charger give you the exact reading of what your battery are putting out and also keep them in shape with regard to slow charge and cycle charges.

I can't recommend the C9000 charger for the AA cells highly enough. I hate to think of all the money I wasted on other chargers. It has made the world of difference to my cells, and they last a lot longer having used "Break In" on them a few times. Some of my cells perform better than they ever did new, even having been abused in a 'bad' charger that came with them.

I also prefer NiMH AA cells to anything Li-Ion because it's just safer. You can use Li-Ion safely, but NiMH can be abused more with far less dangerous results.
