I have a couple ME II lights that are, of course, excellent in most ways...I just can't stand the Vital Gear switches found in the tails.

I'd like to have a new tail cap made that will accept a switch with a much longer action and a more solid "click" when depressed fully. Something comparable to a Surefire E-series switch.

I know it will make the light longer and I don't mind.
I'd love to have them made in HA-III aluminum, but I'll settle for Ti.

Anyway, what can be done if anything?

Re: Need help with MJP Vital Gear switches

Well, technically, CB&M is the right place for it, but it seems not many of the guys who do this kind of work look in there very often.

Let's try it in MMM for a while and see if you get a bite there. I'll move it there now. Let's hope someone will have a suggestion for you.

Thank you for the move, sir.

Below is a pic of an ME II two cell idea I'm gonna send ArcMania as soon as I get the details worked out. The look of the tail is pretty close to finished.

Notice the three fins at the base of the head and similar fins on the TC and the un-shrouded boot.
Also, the overall diameter of the TC is the same as the ring sitting just above the fins at the base of the head.
I think I made the height right for a McClickie switch, not sure though as everything was pretty much by eye.

Any suggestions for improvements are welcome.

Can you post a photo of the ME II switch housing?

Here it is!

The big switch is from an old E-series and the other bits to the left are Vital Gear components. There is NO WAY a McClicky will fit through the bottom, just not enough metal. It'll have to go in from the top the way an E-series goes together.

That ME II tailcap looks very similar to the lower half of the SF-V tailcap design.

Re: Need help with MJP Vital Gear switches

Yep, it's a tail stander that's too short and it has four spikey things on it that have bruised my leg while in my pocket...all things I could do without.

Are you willing to make a tail like the one in my drawing?

Please pardon the late reply...
Thank you, I'll PM you about the details as soon as I can.
