I'm looking to buy some LSD-cells, and the only ones I can get at a decent price here are Sanyo Eneloops, Sony CycleEnergy, GP Recyco and PowerBase Instant.

PowerBase Instant might not be so wellknown, there is a pic and link here.

Do you recommend one over the other, or are they more or less the same cells with different wrappings?
Thanks.

Pretty much, there are only 3 actual manufacturers of LSD cells. However, Sanyo Eneloops are considered the best.

Hello Lobo.

"Varta Ready2Use", same as RayOVac Hybrid can you find in clasohlson.se
149 SEK/4 st.

I have had Sanyo Eneloops more than a year, they are very good cells.

I have had Maha Imedion in 6 weeks now, they seem to be good , we will see how they perform.

Hello Lobo,

I am just getting into testing some GP ReCyko cells. I would say that they seem to be similar to the Hybrid cells. Under normal loads, they do quite well, but the voltage drops under heavy loads. If you don't mind a mid point voltage of about 0.96 volts and a low voltage cut off of 0.7 volts, these cells will still give you around 75% of their capacity under a 10 amp load. You probably wouldn't get good cycle life under this heavy a load because the cells did heat up, quite a bit.

In general, the Eneloop cells seem to be able to hold voltage better under load, but the others seem to have an edge on capacity.

Thanks for all the info everybody! Looks like I'm going for the Eneloops then.
And Anders, thanks for the "local" tip. :)

Does Panasonic make their own? I know that they worked with Yuasa to develop the technology, but haven't seen any evidence that they produce the cells themselves.

They make the Panasonic INFINIUM. Not sure if they sell their battery to everyone else for rebranding though. Sanyo and Yuasa-Delta sells a lot of rebrands though.

I'm just wondering if Panasonic actually produces the cells themselves. I would expect that they'd be selling rebranded cells made by Yuasa-Delta. Do you know if the INFINIUM cells are made in China or Japan?

Panisonic is a primary manufacturer, one of the only 3. ALL other brands are rebrands of one of these 3 manufacturers.

INFINIUM is made in Japan.

According to the email I received yesterday from Panasonic, INFINIUM is made in China at the Yuasa-Delta factory.

I'd go with Eneloops for 1 reason - it delivers the highest voltage under load (lowest internal resistence) of not just the LSD cells, but just about any cell except the high current ones, of course.

Maybe not so important for LEDs, but for hotwires, the ability to hold almost 1.2V @ 5 amps is very nice to have. The PreCharged and Hybrid can't do that.
