Peter has revealed the new Arc will run on CR123's (no real shocks there), he has also said that he will produce any accessory tailpack so long as there is a real demand for it.

So, which would you most like to see?

BTW, I've made this a multiple choice poll...if you would buy more than one, please specify which one would be the first or most desired.

I casted my vote for CR2 (well duh), however, I also like CR123 tubes.

Not even sure an 18650 wil work.
This cell would require the tube of the body (ID) to be 18.5~19.0mm at least,
and the knurls and O-ring groove are already cut to something like 19.2mm ?
So you woul have a paperthing tube there.... :)

(EDIT: which is why TB splits his 18650 e-series tubes in 2 sections)

18650 is a good option for sure,
but you missed a great one, the 17500 :D
I have an old style E1 body on one of my LS heads with a 17500 and its the PERFECT length for a light the LS size.

Really crappy pic, but you can see it on the left.
Between the custom bare AL body, and the cut down 1AA bare AL tail.

I have this same tube and same heads (duh).
It is the SF body without a clip.
Did yo have to shave about 1~2mm to get it to fit into the Arc head ?

Without any idea of the new Arc's size it's difficult to judge which cell would best suit the light or my needs. If the light is approximately sized like the original or the HDS EDC I'd guess the CR123 or, as John suggested, the 17500 cell.

Just my opinion and prejudice but I don't want a miniM^g sized light for the Arc and unless the head is quite small a CR2 cell might reduce run time more than over all volume savings would warrant.

Yep, just like Dons version,
you have to shave off that little flanged lip at the end.

18650 would be my 1st choice. RCR123 my 2nd.

CR2: too small for a "tool"
2xAA: maybe a good choice for the general public. But not for me.
 
It sure would be nice to have 18650 compatablility.

Reading in between the lines Peters posts it seems like the new Arc isn't really designed for LiIon rechargeable of any sort. In other words there isn't over discharge protection built into the circuit, like on an HDS. If this is the case I'm not sure I want peter to have to go back to do any redesigns of the body or the circuit as that would probably add another year to the project.
 
I can't stand CR2-size lights outside of a keychain - so I'd say 2xCR123 and 18650.

That rules out the 2 x CR123 pack, and users would have to be careful not to put two CR123s into the 18650 pack.

I imagine the light will be almost 1 inch in diameter at the head, I really don't see the point of CR2 in a light that big. Half the capacity for a few mm of length savings doesn't make sense to me. If the entire unit was designed around the size of the CR2, then that would be another story.

I voted for 18650 but I would buy both the 18650 and a 2xAA pack at around $50 ea (hopefully less). I would like any extra tailpacks to come with a cap that had a lanyard hole.

I am assuming the prices are comparable to HDS. If its double that, then I probably won't buy an ARC at all.
