I've always wanted the Inova T3 but the old one just fell short compared to what I already had in my collection. The 2007 T3 with K2 LED would have been the ticket with improved output and ability to use two 17500 LiIon cells. But other with brighter LEDs, multi-level, brands available at about the same price how might I justify the new T3. Just because it's beautiful, more rugged (I assume), and I want it? Is it made or just marketed in the USA? I'm grasping for GOOD reason(s) to get it.

I have the 2006 version of the Inova T4 and find it very useful. The beam is more than bright enough but what I really like is it's easy to carry and feels right in the hand when using it.

You can definately get brighter flashlights but if your using a flashlight everyday it's not not just about brightness - ease of use and convenience figure in to it to.

I invested in both '07 T3~K2 and also the D-Mini.
Some people may get jumpy at what I have to say but I prefer the T3; the reflector is VERY refined in that the spill beam is large, flawless and very useful. The hotspot is unique in there is a focused center bullseye 'within' the hotspot for pinpoint accuracy. The useability factor here is great. Its not meant to be a tiny edc for your pocket, but when you hold the T3 in your hand it speaks for itself.
I must say that the D-Mini does throw bit further and I do like it.
Although I may be new to CPF, this is an honest opinion,
the T3 just seems more functional and is really well built, and of course.. regulated.

Inova may not be the brightest, but their build quality is second to none IMO.

The ability to use rechargables in the new T3 is definately a bonus.

In addition, there are the little things, like the sturdy tail clicky that feels substantial and is not a reverse clicky. You know that thing will last a very long time. Like others have said, it is not just about ultimate brightness. The T3 is more than bright enough for most applications . I just wish it still had the SS beze, simly because they looked so cool :)

Thanks for the comments; it's good to get fresh perspectives. If money weren't tight, I'd already have one because it IS a good light and I love the style. Guess I wanted you Guys to provide that feather to push me over the edge when monetary constraints aren't as snug.

The T3 is as obsolete as a hammer is. It's a friggin solid tool that will last your life.

Thats what I thought. Very disappointed when mine (older tiros) didn't withstand an impact onto asphalt. Was fairly hard but not enough to damage the lens, just a little gouging on the body\SS ring.

Damn thing never turned on again though :(

Don't know what to do with it. Will be $ to send to the states (live in australia) take forever, and they may not honour the warranty. Prefer the TIROS though, something a bit different

I do not have a D-mini (yet) but I think I want both. While I Really wish the T3 had a Cree/Soul led in it... Its beam is perfectly smooth. I know this is a little thing for those who do not hunt white walls, but it is nice.

Also the free power from 2 17500's are nice too.

before you rush to spend your money on the Inova T3, try to use one of the newer LED flashlights - maybe borrow one from a friend?

I just got my Lumapower F1 which uses the SSC P4. It is not intended to be a very powerful light, only uses a 1xAA battery (in fact so far I only used a stock alkaline primary) yet it is a beautiful beam. And extremely useful indoors.

I also got the Lumapower M1 and am sure it will do much better than the T3 based on the specs. Big throw, nice useful spill, also very rugged with a crenelated (tactical) bezel, HA-III anodizing, etc., etc. And on runtime it will just go on much longer than the T3.

Then I could go on about the L1D CE...(which I got while awaiting the 2xAA tubes to become available...)...

Really, these new lights are amazing, read flashlightreviews.com on the L2D CE (and similar lights) and you'll see what I mean.

Especially if money is tight, make sure you spend it wisely! Why reward companies that are behind the times with NEW products? If we reward the companies that forge ahead with the new technology, then the Inova's of the world will be forced to catch up with them, and then we'll all have an even better choice - get the Inova because you like the construction and the looks, but ALSO get it with the newest available technology, and at competitive prices!

Actually, I may never get the Inova, but if I purchased on looks and perceived quality I'd already have the light. I usually waited almost a year before buying a "new" light. At today's rate of improvement, however, new designs are obsolete in six months.

No they are not, because if they performed well the job for which you bought them, they won't stop performing once more powerfull or loger running lights come out.

I really liked my new inova t3. After getting my Ultrafire C2 light from Battery junction, my answer to the above question is...YES... Mine will be heading to the b/s/t section verry soon.
