I may not know where I am, but I'm not lost
I went to Target today and was surprised to find a whole group of new River Rock lights.

1AA 1W looks like a rebranded nuwai, but can't be sure. A little brighter than my Fenix L1P and focused a little better. Comes with pocket clip and neck lanyard. Says 2 hours of light. Bought it.

K2 3AA lantern High/low hold button for 4 seconds for strobe. at least twice as bright as the old lantern. Says 85 lumens 5 hours of max brightness on high,16 on high total, 35 hours on low, 35 hours flashing, 2 years green locator led. Comes with clips for top or bottom and a small carbiner. Bought it. I like this one a lot. Perfect for traveling.

Also a 3W 2AA light with a window instead of the lense. And a K2 3AA Headlamp with battery pack in the back and a small read led on the back for "more visablity" at night. Hight/med/low settings.

There must be a real sale on the K2 LEDs.
No new 2C lights yet but they hadn't sold out of the ones yet. They still have the 2AAA lights, but only in black now.

More good lights for the "common" people. Might be interesting to mod the 3AA lantern with a Soul P4.

edit: oh, the 1AA light I bought is a reverse clicky.

Oh, watch out if you put a rechargeable batter in the new river rock 1AA light. It's a little snug with a normal batter, but my duracell 2650mAh must be a tiny bit thicker. It got stuck inside and I had a lot of trouble getting it out.

I think the K2 headlamp and the K2 lantern are $25 each and the 1W 1xAA is $22.

I never noticed that the Energizer 2500s and the Duracell 2650 were a slightly different diameter. The Energizers slide right in and out of the 1W lights while two of my 2650 does drag on its way out and the other two slide in and out exactly like the 2500s.

The 1AA was $22.99.
The K2 Lantern was $24.99. Those are easy, since I have the reciept.
I think the new 2AA was $24.99 and the K2 headlamp was $29.99. They both had "don't touch the window" heat warnings on them if turned on for more than ten minutes.

Yeah, I noticed the same thing. I tried several different duracell rechargeables and only a couple of them stuck. Weird.

A simple solution to tight NIMH's is to remove the plastic wrapper around them until you just have a metal battery. Ugly, but it works. I suppose the increased diameter is how they're cranking out more mAh's out of them.

I wasn't paying too close attention to the prices because I was sure someone else would have mentioned everything here already. I was a little surprised that I couldn't find anything on it here when I looked before posting. They were also carrying several of the new Dorcy lights too including a 6AAA K2 light about the same size as a 2C light. There were some new energizer lights too. I'm guessing most brands are coming out with their new lights this time of year. Couple of months after SHOT show 2007, right?

That's what I ended up doing, especially since I damaged the plastic sleeve getting it out. The light has anodize (type II I think) on the inside too, so there shouldn't be any problems.

Wow, this is the 4th thread about the new lights. The mods combined them under the "Target New Lights" thread a couple days ago.

Several folks posted about these 3 or 4 days ago.

Please remember, precious bandwidth is at a premium.:)

I was playing with the K2 lantern. The low setting is PWM. And it has a partially frosted dome around the LED. A lot of people were complaining about too much glare from the side. The top also screws off easily to you can hand the light upsidedown and get more light. I think that's why it has slots for hooks on both top and bottom. It says "Can be used as a flashlight with the top cap removed." I think it works better as a lantern with the top cap removed and held upsidedown.

Sorry, I did a search back almost 24 hours and didn't find a post on it and I did a key word search with "target" and "new" and didn't get anything. I also have been checking the forum everyday and I guess I must have missed it. Admittedly, I mostly only check the top 100 or so new posts. My local target didn't have these lights yesterday.
