Re: 90+ HIGH CRI CREE XML P60 / D26 replacement modules.

I received mine and it has already been a fantastic module. I have used it quite a few hours already this week.

Just to clarify, is the 6v input meant to handle 2 primary cr123a?
Maybe I am being overly cautious but two fresh cr123a are over 6v.

Hi, What kind of regulation/runtime can I expect from a 18650 3100mAh with the 2.8A dropin?

Thanks

Hi

Yes you can use 2XCR123 primaries otherwise I would list as 4.2 volt max. No 2Xli ion.

Hi

I don't do runtimes as they are bad on the emitters and there are way too many variables. Divide the amperage into the mah of the battery and you will come close to the runtime. So 3100 divided by 2800

Re: 90+ HIGH CRI CREE XML P60 / D26 replacement modules.

Hi

OK I have changed drivers and a few things are different. All modules will come stock at 3 amps. I can reduce if needed but since Cree specs 3 amps these were made stock at 3 amps.

Levels are below as some have changed.

1 level
3 level low / med / high (5% / 30% / 100% )
3 level low / high / strobe
5 level Moonlight / low / med / med high / high

There are no 5 level with strobe and SOS anymore and no 2 level. These are a new manufacturer with excellent quality but the levels are a bit different. At a later date I may consider some of the older type but since the majority order 1 and 3 level it should not affect most. Strobe can be had with the low / high / strobe just not with SOS.

Dave

Please continue to let me know if going in a solarforce host so I can accommodate for a longer module pocket.

Hi Christian

OK a slight problem, the FM cooly has a very deep module pocket so if I make the 90+ to fit the cooly then you probably won't get the head closed on the C2. Now if I make it for the C2 then you may have contact problems in the cooly. If you are able to use a P7 I see you have listed with a C2 then you may be able to make it work but I wanted to bring to your attention. You will need a Whole outer spring for the cooly.

Thank you, this equation will come in very handy.

Would 2.8A high level be able to run in SF C2 in hand for 20-30 minutes or should I reduce it to say ~2.5A?

Never had a high amp drop-in so trying to get an idea for amps vs. heat vs. continuous runtime.

Hi Dave,

you're super quick! Thanks for getting those out and the extra info. I'm ok to use the hicri just in my C2 so no worries.

Best regs,

Hi

If you don't have to have a one level I would consider a 3 level that way if you do need to let it cool you can turn it down a notch. Even on med it is a bright light.

Now if a one level is needed then I do believe I would step back one notch, now realize that ambient temps help cool so cooler temps will allow longer runtimes plus your hand is a good heat sink. 30 minutes on high is a bit of a long time but again it depends on the conditions and way it is being used. Do not ever lay it down unattended on high for extended periods of time as all the heat ends up on side of the unit.
I really don't do runtimes or temperature comparisons since each host is different. Best rule of thumb is as long as you can comfortable hold it in your bare hand it is not a problem, warm doesn't hurt but uncomfortable hot is a sign to turn down.

Hope that might help

Dave

I can't believe I did not notice the low low option. I always pass over 4-5 mode drivers because they tend to have s.o.s. or strobe which I do not like.

My 3 mode is still phenomenal I just like a very low low.

I hope others don't miss this also!
