Bad Influence

I've been browsing herefor a few days, but I think It's time to introduce myself. My name's Dan, and I have recently purchased an Energizer 4AA DB, and a Brinkmann Rebel LED light. (I want the Legend LX, but can't find one) I want to mod out the DB for brightness too.


Eventually, I'm going to HAVE to get an E2, but that's a lot of dough for me. I also have a turquoise photon III that just went south, so I'm going to return it, and my Fiancee has a white photon II.

On a side note, I have a VERY great deal of light on my car.

Don't bother with the LX.
The Streamlight Scorpion is only about $5 more and it comes with a self contained spare bulb. IMHO the Scorpion is a much nicer light. One step below a SureFire. You can get the light from Botachtactical and pick up 20 cr123 batteries for just $20 more.

JA,

Please be aware that Botach has demonstrated a variable quality of service ranging from competant to unacceptably poor, and that many "Flashaholics" have decided not to use them because of numerous bad experiences.

That said, this does not necessarily mean that your experience will be a negative one. In fact some of us have had positive experience at this site.

Just be forewarned that this has been a problematic site.

Sweet. Thanks for the advice guys. I'll take a look around and see what I come up with. I haven't had any luck modding the db yet... I can't keep a bulb intact at 6v. I LOVE the Rebel though. Nice rugged light considering it's plastic, and puts out a reasonable amount of light if you're in total darkness. (Gotta love the purple-ish hue of the light too!)
 
Gotta love these names. I'm surprised there isn't a brightbulb yet. Agree with the Scorpion over the Legend LX unless you can find a Legend LX for $20 at a local retailer. Also for a regular incandescent non Surefire light, consider a Princeton Tec Surge. Bigger yes, so not pocketable but brighter then an E2 at near the beam quality and can be had for less then $25 including the eight AA Duracell batteries.

OK guys, what's he talking about with the light from the car? Are the HP and Watt ratings in conjunction with each other? A police or fire rescue vehicle? Or one of those "Fall Guy" trucks with huge spotlights?

You say you've been reading for a while - I'm just curious, how did you find CPF ?

And be well aware that the more you read here, the more lights you'll buy to add to those you've already got.

These guys will encourage you to buy things you never thought you would *need* so much ......

Ps - please post details of your vehicle set-up, sounds interesting. (Car stuff goes in the Non-Flashlights forum, I think.)
 
I found my way here thru Quickbeam's review page to another review page (Brock's I think) to here. I was looking for info on the Energizer ARCwhite lights since I can't find anymore (I had 2, but the CCFTs became sacraficial lambs in a car headlamp experiment... at least nothing ELSE got burned up) I will post details on my car setup, but I want to post pics with it, and my pic-hosting site won't let me do anything besides link to them, so I have to figure out a comprimise there.

Here's the short list: 4 55w H3 halogens, 2 50w 883 halogens, 1 pair 55/65w 9007's 1 pair "hyperwhite" 8/28w 3157's plus "pretty" lights that don't project out.

On that note, it's bedtime for me.....

And yes, I know you bastiges are going to get me spending far too much money on lights.
