I have a 5d maglite that I would like to modify. Maybe $100 or so give or take $50 for coolness. Any suggestions?

Thanks

What are you looking for in this drop-in?
Highest max output?
Most throw?
Most runtime?

I don't consider drop-ins as mods because they are very easily reversible.

The thread Marduke posted is a good place to start.

Unless you have a very high power IR LED focused at skin 20 ft away, you shouldn't burn anything. It is bright, but because it is a LED drop-in, it will only burn retinas(not literally) and not skin.

:welcome:

LED's may not radiate heat but light is energy and energy can change forms thus something with enough output can burn things.....just not very likely to see until we get a malkoff with mc-e in it =]

id love to try the malkoff,

MUCH brighter i bet it could burn your skin at 20 feet :),

not sure about runtime, and more expensive.

I just recieved my Malkoff yesterday and just got done walking the dogs. It is indeed very bright, a tad brighter than my TK10. My only gripe has nothing to do with the drop-in, but the fact that I need to unscrew the head a substantial amount to get a nice focused beam.

So, while we're on the subject, are there any nice mag reflector mods/drop-ins for a better spot? Hell, I'd even settle for a OP refector for a smooth flood, I just don't like the stock set up.

you got paypal?:whistle::whistle:

Neofab's working on triple XP-G mag drop-in that may well be good for 900-1000 lumens. It will cost $80-90 but I'm sure it will be a ripper of a drop-in.

Chris of Mac's Customs is also working on this. Which I can't wait for, but have to. It'll be going into a 4D running 4x10ah Accupowers. What a work of art.
