to put it simply, i want a bright light. not overpower, tho it would be fun. i need a briote like, 120+ lumen. adjsutable, because, qwherei work is dark, low light levels, and i both need to work up close with my hands, and see 200 yards away. i really like the size and feel of the 9x galaxy by smith and wesson, 7 inch x 1 inch. it feels rugged and durable. no to a pocket clip. needs to use cr123 batteries (the job pays for them). and the most imporant is the pocketbook factor...nothin over 100.

that that i said that, i have searched many sites, seen so many, and still i feel dumb about it. i would like suggestions or brands to look at. the choices are jsut over whelming.

once i get the new light, i will try my hand at modding. since i will have this S&W light and a 4d cell mag to mess around with. untill then, suggestions would be nice.

thank you

the knowledge here is immense, and i feel like such a moron lookin at all this stuff im not 100% sure about. like a computer newbie looknigto buy good ram. will only happen by luck...

Anyways, consider a flood to throw light. Having high throw lets you see way off and high flood lets you work up close without a glaring blinding hotspot in the center of your light.

It is very hard to find anything decent in this category, but you don't really need an amazing amount of light, so I think these will work fine:

Its 25 bucks and uses 2xCR123s. You can also use AAAs if desired.

A more compact 1xCR123 one is here:

I also really like the romisen flood to throw lights. I've never tried, but I've been told they are good for modding too.

You might find something with modes though like a quark or a fenix just as usefull as a adjustable focus light.
