Does anyone know if the Nexus 95mw green laser from wickedlasers.com is a good laser and worth the money? Thank you.

Its a good laser, but there are others that can be had for cheaper, what do you want your laser to do? you might be able to get by with something alot cheaper depending on what you want to use it for.

what's wrong with the 200mw laser from DX for a third of the price?

Most likely everything. It wont be 200mw of green light and its probabley going to have a ton of IR leakage. The only lasers i would trust from DX are going to be the ones that are 50mw and under.

Wicked do have problems (underpower, split beams, jumping modes) and many of the customers have to RMA them back, especially EVO series. But, if You are lucky to get unit that is up to specifications, than it is worth the money.
Is this the first time Youre buying high powered greenie?

Check Wicked Laser forum on http://www.lasercommunity.com/ to find out more...

No, I have a 50mw. I think it's a newwish. It's pretty nice but the thrill has worn off and I now need something more powerful.

Hey Peanuts (not a Snoopy fan by any chance?)

You can go do www.dragonlasers.com and get their 95mW Viper laser pointer which is pretty much the equivalent of the Nexus for a much better price.

If you have cash to burn and would enjoy more than 95mW, then go to www.laserglow.com and get one of their Aries lasers.

If you do get the Aries, post some pics. Can't remember seeing any pics of one of them in action. Would look very nice.

I was just handling my Nexus Laser last night whilst doing a comparison and I'm personally very impressed with it. The only thing possibly missing is a pocket clip which means that if you lean over and have made the mistake of leaving it in your pocket, it may fall out. But this is also a good thing because it means the laser looks less trivial and harmless when handled. Too many high powered lasers are easily mishandled because they look like a low powered pen-torch. I think it's good to avoid eBay sellers for a NUMBER of reasons. Especially when many lasers there are erroneously labeled and may or may not contain an IR filter for safety, let alone output the stated power. I purchased my first Nexus from Wicked Lasers at full retail after doing an online search and reading about the company here on CPF. I've now updated it for the purpose of reviewing the 2007 model. My original is still going strong but I don't drop it and I keep a zip-lock baggie over the aperture-end when it's in my pocket to keep lint off it. I think it's very good value per $

Some pics I took when i reviewed the newer 2007 Nexus the month before last below...

The Nexus I have is rock-steady stable. Delivery from China to Australia was three days (seriously!) but they are a bit closer via mailman than the US. Output is a bit closer to <100mW. The build, finish and presentation is good. Feels even better than the earlier models, one of which I have carried in my top pocket every day for almost 2 years. And no, I don't use it as a pointer...ever. Return Policy and customer service at Wicked has always had a very good reputation and anyone I have spoken to with a problem has been swiftly assisted as a result. I've dealt with some other suppliers (including a US based supplier or two) who couldn't care less about my requirements or concerns. I think Wicked offer a 'guarantee of delivery' too (might need to check that but I seem to remember they offered a full refund etc if undeliverable or verifiably lost or damaged in transit).

Trivia: I work as a film designer and used the Nexus to assist me (with a camera & a copy of Photoshop) in making the Penguin nebula for the opening scene in the movie Happy Feet.

Let us know how you go and what you get.

PS: Lasering our Oscar with the Nexus the other day... (LOL!)
