Hey guys so this is my first post so wish me luck. So i just recently got the nitecore d10 r2 and i love it. My only concern is that it heats up really fast (only after about a min or two of usage on hi). While i dont think that its over heating since the led dosent flicker it dose get hot, not to hot to hold just a tad bit annoying. So is this normal for a flashlight this size or should i send it back. P.S has anybody had any issues with there lanyards breaking, after only about a day of being in my pocket mine broke.

I did a test with my D10 using a fully charged AA Eneloop NiMh battery. After 2 minutes on high, it was barely warm, at 3 minutes it was slightly hot, and hot at 5 minutes. This is VERY normal with power LEDs. The fact that the case is getting hot means that the heat sinking is working, and the heat is being drawn away from the LED to keep it at a reasonable temperature. Just about every flashlight I have ever owned that puts out over 100 lumens will heat up on high. The LED is designed to handle normal operating temperatures of 185°F (85°C) and a maximum safe temperature of 290°F (145°C), and still maintain a long, reliable life with good light output.

Hi,

My D10 also gets fairly warm on high. My lanyard also broke at the point where the cord is joined together using the plastic clip. Easy fix is to open the clip carefully with a screwdriver, put the cord back in carefully, add plenty of superglue and snap it shut. It will never break after that :)

yeah its normal.
when i did tests with my jetbeam jet-I PRO EX V2.0 on max, after like 30 mins, it was almost too hot to touch. But it was still fine.

Yeah, the D10 gets hot, like many other flaslights with hi-output. But will still work just fine. Perfect then it's could outside and your hands is freezing:laughing:

I noticed my D10 R2 gets much warmer running L91's (single use Energizer Lithium) then when using rechargeable AW 14500. Never tried alkalines in it. Don't know if others have noticed this or not. Can't explain it. I stick with 14500 and then L91's as backup.
