It is a awesome $25.00 light. How will the Nitecore d10 compair???

QUESTION>>>>
Will the Nitecore d10 be as bright??? Nitecore claims only 130 lumens.

Please help if you can.
Thanks for reading and helping me.

The Nitecore D10 will destroy that light, in quality and brightness.
LOL

I loved your reply. :devil::devil:

I only bought one light from DX (actually 2, as gifts), the Aurora R2, and I will be no longer wasting money to buy inferior lights just to save a few bucks.

Buying quality = saving money in the long run.

I would not bet on D10 "destroying" that MTE light in brightness.. but the build quality is propably better in nitecore products. :p

I've got both. Without digging them out to do a side by side test I'll say the D10 will be brighter. But the D10 will also feel much higher quality, have a better UI and all around will likely be a light you like a lot more. The other features of the D10 IMO make it an even better bargain than the lesser priced MTE. And I'm saying that with MTE being one of my favorite cheaper brand lights.

I have the MTE. I don't have a D10, but I do have an NDI, which is comparable in terms of beam and brightness to the D10. The NDI is definitely brighter than the MTE. If the website for the MTE states it has 150 lumens, I would bet that that rating is emitter lumens. The NDI is rated at 180 emitter lumens. However, the MTE, in my opninion, has a much smoother beam with no artifacts and smoother hot spot to spill transistion than with the NDI. The Tint on the MTE is a bit warmer than the NDI. There has to be some compromises made in terms of absolute fit and finish when you make a light for $25 vs one for $50 or $70, but the MTE made few compromises when it comes to its tint and smooth beam. The MTE 5 mode is supposed to be a Q5, which I question, only because the its highoutput is less than my other Q5's, and I have never seen a Q5 without some artifacts around the hotspot.

Dissapointed in my new Nitecore d10

I just got my new Nitecore D10 yesterday.... IT IS NOT AS BRIGHT AS EITHER OF MY MUCH CHEAPER MTE LIGHTS!! (my MTE's are aa size and are the brightest and whitest aa size that I have seen yet)

I would say that the build quality is TOP notch, but my $25.00 AND my $17.00 MTE flashlights have a whiter light and are brighter. The $25.00 MTE is much brighter.

I am bummed! I really don't think my D10 is defective, I just think that the Luxon LED that is in my MTE's is brighter, whiter, and a lot less ringy.

I wonder if I should return it, or if the D10 just isn't the brightest bulb on the tree??

What do you think?

S.

Re: Dissapointed in my new Nteecore d10

Sounds like you haven't turned your D10 on high yet. It is brighter than any other AA light currently made.

What battery are you using?

Re: Dissapointed in my new Nteecore d10

The D10 was never advertised as the brightest AA torch, but it's built tough, has a great simple UI, innovative design, and looks great.

If all that matters to you is brightness, then sorry, you might as well send it back...

I got my new NIGHTCORE yesterday and both of my MTE lights are whiter and brighter.
Iam dissapointed.

Re: Dissapointed in my new Nteecore d10

Hi,
I am using enloops in all my flashlights.
YES, it is on full brightness.

I feel that is is VERY well built, just not as bright as I thought it would be.

Re: Dissapointed in my new Nteecore d10

Something is up. It should SMOKE a luxeon. Mine is insanely bright on nimh.

Re: Dissapointed in my new Nitecore d10

Is there something wrong with my Nitecore? It's not dim, just not as bright as my brightest cheaper lights.

What gives?

Re: Dissapointed in my new Nitecore d10

What are you considering brighter? Intensity of hotspot, or via ceiling bounce?

Now I recall why you PM'd me - I forgot I posted in this thread. Sorry to hear the disappointment in the D10. I sent you a reply - if it's really that bad I'd return it to see what they can do. But to some extent it can be the luck of the bin lottery and the Vf lottery. If you got very lucky on the MTE with a great bin and Vf it could certainly look brighter and whiter to one that was not quite as good in the D10. Hopefully you can get a better D10 but if not then I'd say you got very lucky with getting an exceptional LED in the MTE and all for only $25. I assume you have tried a couple different batteries in the D10? A really good NiMH like and Eneloop can do wonders compared to some alkalines. Take a look at the reviews by selfbuilt or anyone who has done charts on the output with different batteries. This may help some in determining the best battery and that can make a difference. I had a AA Lithium primary one time that tested 1.7 volts on the voltmeter but it barely lit up a flashlight. I thought the light was bad but after getting a different battery in it I realized the Lithium was the problem.

Also if you could post some side by side beamshots it would be interesting to see how much difference there is in this situation.

Re: Dissapointed in my new Nitecore d10

Which luxeons are we talking about here? If those MTE lights are using rebel 100s, then yes it's possible that they are brighter than your nitecore D10.
As we know, the Cree Q5 and Rebel 100 are comparable in lumens/watt so it comes down to how hard the drivers in those MTEs are drawing from your 1AA battery.

& yes, I would agree with the other poster that high output wouldn't be my reason for purchasing a nitecore d10/ex10.

Re: Dissapointed in my new Nitecore d10

Is the D10 bright enough for you?

Just because it may not appear to be brighter than a cheaper light does not mean it's not bright.

If all you care about is pure output, then look at li-on powered lights, like 18650 lights. Or get a Jetbeam which is insanely bright.

So are you disappointed, really, in your D10? And does it deserve a separate thread in addition to the other thread you started as well? I don't think anyone else has complained that the D10 or EX10 is not bright enough.
