What lumens do u consider disabling, say in a dark room, so as not to have to shoot but taser/stun if a home invasion? Ron RN

I've tested my LD10 with 1xNiMH Turbo and found that it will blind a real human being long enough (about 2 secs) for you to run or do some real damage .

My guess is that that will put out about 70 lumens out the front. So Surefire's quote of 60 lumens sounds reasonable. =)

With sufficient effective training one can likely do far more with far less light.

Without training one can likely do far less with far more light.

(Light in inappropriate hands is likely worse than no light at all)

Light is no substitute for robust tactics, training and experience.

Well, having just completed a Mag85 (3x18650 in a 4C body) I would have to say 1300 lumens. :twothumbs

Couldn't have said it any better.

For a good Tactical light I would want a light that is set on Hi/turbo mode all the time. I use a Fenix LD20 Premium Q5 and leave it on Turbo mode. I do think the TK-11 with the R2 is a much brighter light and will probably blind easier. Also the Olight M20 Premium would be nice. Anything 160 + Lumens should be blinding in a CQB (Close Quarter Battle) enviroment.

Now on to the 2nd using a stun gun for a Home envasion I wouldnt recommend. First off once your adrenaline starts pumping you will likely get shaky and have a high chance of missing the Target when firing a projectiled stun gun. If you are using the other handheld stun gun I think that it might be a little better if you were going toe to toe with the assailant but you would have to be close enough to him to use it. This leaves you succeptable to knife attacks and being fired upon by your attacker. There is also a chance that there are multiple assailants and no light or stun gun of any kind is going to be sufficient.

My recomendation for home defense is one a 12ga Shotgun pump or semi that has a high capacity shell tube. The shear sound of the most distinctive sound in the world is a pump shotgun being racked. The sound itself might scare off any attackers/invaders. Now if your concerned about shooting someone that dosent care about you or your family whether they live or die. You may consider using NON Lethal Ammo for your first shot and possibly the 2nd shell. If that dosent stop some crazed attacker that could be on God only knows what drug you could have Live Ammunition in your 2nd or 3rd shell. Im 99% sure that after the first hit with Non Lethal Ammo they wont want to attack or steal anymore. If you have Children present in the House and are worried about wall over penetration with 12ga ammo I suggest NO4 Buckshot over 00Buck because it is less likely to go through walls. I hope this helps you out and gives you a different perspective on Home Defense.

Make sure whatever light you use to "stun" someone is big and heavy enough to finish the job when they get agitated at you shining a light in their face.
