Saw this DC53 knife on ebay and had to buy it ! It was just under $45 bananas shipped to my door .
DC53 Steel - Google it . But in a nut shell it's premium tool steel that's supposedly twice as good as D2 .
What are the chances this knife is really DC53 ????? Slim to none is my guess .
In performance , this knife hit 200 .. 45 divided by 200 = $0.225 per slice ( Value index ) Lower is better .
The knife itself :
The short of it is , it's a pain in the hand ! I have to date , de horned the knife . Doing 200 slices made the knife barely acceptable , especially considering the price .
So being barely acceptable ( performance ) , I decided to put in the effort to de horn the knife to make it more user friendly .
There were a lot of things to complain about .
1) Sharp edges ( cutting sharp )
2) Poor design
3) Poor execution ( fits )
4) Is this knife twice as good as D2 = No , it's half as good .
Still for $45 bananas this knife takes a dirty great big dump on the $125 Civivi Dog and the CH3509 , both allegedly D2 (?) .
Yeah , buying a knife is like buying a lottery ticket !
So lets put this knifes performance in perspective .
Good Cr/Mov will get you into 200+
Good D2 will get you into 400+
Rubbish Steel will get you less than 100 ...
If this knife is truly DC53 , then it's really bad DC53 . ( That's the painful reality )
