So I finally felt like braving the cold in the garage to break out the soldering iron, and like chocolate and peanut butter, it ended up being 2 great tastes that tastes great together

First of all - stock LED was a freakin SYAL luxIII, I didn't even know they made them with such low flux and such high Vf at the same time, its like the opposite of a UX0H. In comparison the USWOH P4 is freakin rediculously bright - it now gives my 301X-5 on RCR123's a run for it's money.

I did NOT yet remove the .030" (~.75mm) from the reflector, but it has a decent hot spot at the moment that's doing the job - will I notice a big difference with the .75mm of grinding? Thanks

I recommend you don't modify the reflector unless you are physically hitting the emitter.

due to some space issues (new heatsink without space underneith for the giant resistor) I am actually physically hitting the emitter with the reflector pretty hard. I definately see a better hotspot with the stock reflector than with one that I shaved a LOT off of for a cree emitter, but that one has a LOT taken off
