and wow, this little ******* is BRIGHT!! makes my 3d mag look like a zippo in a tornado! right now i just have alkaline batteries in the L2D, my energizer e2's have not come in yet. i never knew an led flashlight could be so bright. i am impressed.

L2D was my first proper light as well.

Nice, isn't it :)

i will say i am impressed with its brightness. i never expected it. i was expecting something a little brighter that me stock 3d mag, but this thing blows it away. now its making me wonder what else is out there thats brighter ( and affordable ).

congrads! maybe u might wanna get some rechargeables for them! and keep the lithiums as back up..other more knowledgeable ones can explain better!

The l2d was my first non-cheapo light also. I was very impressed also. However, I've been less than impressed with Fenix's quality control. I'm lucky to live so close to 4sevens; my lights have been arriving within 2 business days :D

Uh-Oh, that's how it begins! In short order you'll drop that (and affordable) and the lumen quest will truly begin. :eek:oo:

Fenix L2x's are really great lights tho.

+ 1 for rechargables. Not to much out their that is noticible brighter. Probably have to move into the P7`s...and aren`t that many around...yet :grin2:

from what i have read the lithiums work better than rechargables, i have not ruled them out but i want to see what kind of useage i get out of the lithiums.

i ordered it on monday, it arrived today. i also chose the cheap usps shipping. so for 4.50 in shipping i can wait an extra day. whats wrong with fenix's QC? everything with my L2D seems fine, are there things i should look for?

the next thing i want to do it make my 3d mag work like its supposed to...be nice and REALLY BRIGHT. i am thinking about the malkoff drop in, but i am also looking at other replacements to the mag light. i really want a hand held HID, but that is to much bling bling for me right now.

i either a) want to upgrade my 3d mag to something really bright or b) replace the mag altogether and get something else thats really bright. dont know yet. right now i am still giddy about my L2D

If you think it's bright on alkalines, just wait till you put some rechargables - NiMh (or lithiums) in there. Alkaline batteries can not supply enough juice to the L2D to make it as bright as it can be.

hopefully the energizer e2's come in tomorrow. im sure i will be amazed again. but i need to put this light to work tomorrow, so until my e2's arrive its gonna live on alkalines. i will just keep it out of turbo mode. but even on high i think its more than enough light to do what i need to do with it. right now i am waiting for it to get dark here so i can go outside and play!

hows the low med and high modes :twothumbs

the whine my past two have put out for one. if you're older it probably shouldn't bother you. the one i just received doesn't whine much at all. I've read in another thread that they are getting a shipment in this week with that problem fixed. I've also had problems with the threads on the head end. i think the problem has been the anodizing coming off and being ground up between the threads. other than that the quality is pretty good. maybe these problems are anomalous to my lights :sick2:

ok, ill bite, how the hell do i attatch this damn lanyard to the L2D? the tail cap has 2 holes and a little notch cut out. do i just run the lanyard through one of the holes? do i use both holes?

Well thats easy. You will get exactly one use out of them and then you throw them away. With Nimh you get 100's of uses of of the cells and they are about the same price (not including charger). Run time may be 80% less each use though.

Wait, are you saying you Paid for shipping? Next time try Fenix-store.com and use the 8% CPF8 discount code and look at the specials page you might get an E01 combo for only $6 more.

No single LED will be much brighter than L2D, all your options are pricey to get it really bright. (300+ lumens)

the E01 combo is for the regular L2d not the Q5

anyway the lanyard i needed a needle to help get the tiny string through but mine looks like this

I just received my L2D today - 2 days shipping from the Fenix store.:grin2:

I went for the special - L2D-CE + E01. I already have a blue E01 and now I have a black. I may have to get the other colors just to complete the set.

The L2D is great! I loaded it with a couple of ENELOOPs and WOW. It lights up my shed in the back of the yard and that's about 100 feet. Even on low it blows away the E01.

I will probably use it on low most of the time but it's nice to know I will have enough light when I need it.

Well worth the money.

BTW: No whine or noise.

when i run out of e2's i will spring for some eneloops. i ordered it from fenix-store.com, using the cpf discount. came out to 57.50. wait, let me check....

ok i paid zero shipping, i was thinking of batteryjunction. so it looks like the malkoff drop in is the best deal running to make my mag really bright.
