Of course there's the Google search, which yielded this link at the top:

http://www.infinitelights.com/batteries.html

I'm fed up with buying two CR2016s at Walmart for almost four bucks!

It's time to buy Photon-food from somewhere that's not that expensive.
Do you have a good source for these batteries? Anyone familiar with the one in the link? Should I order from there or is there a better place, better price, better quality?

Thanks for your input.

Digikey has them pretty cheap. Me, I just scrounge them out of cheap photon clones. I don't use enough of the batteries to need them cheaper than that.

Lighthound carries them too. I bought some 2016, 2032 and LR44 with a LiOn order but haven't run them long enough to be able to compare them the the ridiculously expensive alternatives.

Try finding cheap keychain lights at dollar stores that have white or blue LEDs in them. If you get the right size they will have 2 2016 cells in em. You can also just order 5 or ten *disposable* lights from I think Lighthound? I seem to remember someone selling 5 for $5 including shipping awhile back.

I've bought from them plenty of times, very good. However, after getting my last batch of clone Photons from Lighthound.com I doubt I'll be buying anymore batteries. It's hard to beat getting the light (which for some reason is even brighter than my original Photon), two new batts AND not having to deal with those dinky screws. That's $.50 per batt plus a free light.

As ace0001a kindly points out BatteryJunction has 2016 batteries at a great price.

Energizers for ~$1.00 or less and generics for .50 or less. Plenty of quantity discounts for bigger buys. Do a search for 'cr2016' and don't forget to use the coupon code in my sig for an extra 5% off! First class shipping will be the cheapest.

I couldn't resist ordring this, 2032s, and 2025s, all for about $10. I'm not sure how these will turn out, but considering how many of my devices use coincells (including non lighting applications - like "memory saver" batteries for phones, my car keyfob, and my sportswatch) if they work even at all I should save a lot of money.

You've also got the option to buy DXs 10 keychain lights for $4.70 shipped ($1 more), which is essentially just a very bluish white LED being direct-driven by those batteries. When fresh, the LEDs are driven very hard, around ~65mA. However, I plan on substituting some higher quality/more efficient LEDs, inclduing different colored LEDs (which look nice in the clear case) and replacing the 2 2016s with single 2032s, which should drive the LEDs at a more reasonable current for a lot longer.

Update:

Last night, I ordered 30 CR2016s from the link in the first post. I had checked briefly on Ebay and found nothing that screamed "bargain".

Any order over $12 on this site gets free shipping, so the deal for 10 batteries for $6.90 x 3 is what I got. Just over $20 for thirty CR2016s is a far better deal than I was getting buying 2 at a time from the watch counter at Walmart!

They claim that the batteries will be either Sony or Maxell. I have to imagine that what the website says is reasonable: that these are two of the top Japanese brands.

I'll try to report on shipping time and performance of the batteries if I get the chance once they arrive. Please know that I will not be conducting any kind of objective tests on the batteries regarding output or endurance. I am not that kind of guy. :(

I ordered batteries from infinite lights the other day and they were maxell's for my lr44's and sony for the 2032's.

THe shipping was amazingly fast as well considering it was first class and I am in AK..ordered on friday, got them on tues. It was around $16 for 20 lr44's and 10 2032's, heck of alot better than the $2 - $3 a pop I was paying.
