I've noticed that there's a lot of oxidation on the outside of my SF/6P bulb. Has anyone else evert seen that and is it effecting performanace?

I'm not clear what you are talking about, are you sure the deposits are on the outside of the glass? As bulbs age they will get dark tungsten deposits on the inside of the glass as the tungsten filament detoriorates. If you are getting a white colored residue on the inside of your lamp, there is probably a microscopic crack allowing gases to escape and is a sign of immanent failure or explosion.

No,no! My apologies, the oxidation is on the outside of the bulb, the metal surface. It's just this one and none of my other four.

It is not effecting performance. It used to happen more with the lights that had the brass threads.
