PART 9 !!! P60 Style Custom Drop - in modules for SF and other Products. (part 9 can be found here)

Here I am offering P60 Style drop ins, they are available with Leds from the following manufacturers with some of the leds that will be offered are below.

SSC Seoul - P7 , P4
Cree - XML , XPG, XP-E, MC-E, XRE , UV, are here in warm , neutral or cool white
Osram - Diamond Dragon , Golden Dragon Plus, Platinum Dragon IR/
Luminus - SST -50, SST -90


These modules will fit most flashlights that accepts a standard P60/D26 Style module.

THESE DO NOT FIT OLD STYLE G2 HOSTS

You can still see a bit of a doughnut hole in this picture but most of the time we can focus all or most of it out.

This is a picture of the reflector made for the Cree XPE XPG This gives a very smooth and concentrated hotspot.

New OPTICS Modules for XRE only

All of the modules end up being as close to standard length as possible The large die leds are much thicker and there is a small possibility that there will be a crack at the head and body. I keep all as short as possible so if there is a crack there is probably nothing that can be done.

All hosts are slightly different and one module may fit tight in a SF product and a bit loose in a FM Nite clone or an FM C but they will fit all. One may need to have the spring cut down to allow the head to close or a whole spring may be needed to keep the module from rattling. They also fit most Solarforce or any P60 style host


Most LED's are carried in Cool White, Neutral White, or Warm white when possible. They will be listed if in stock if not listed probably not in stock.

Battery configs listed are for any battery that falls into the range listed.

Potting is the filling of electronics cavity with thermal epoxy for heat management and shock protection. Copper tape is included with potting and both are included at no charge unless specified by member.

If you want to use continuously on high in most hosts please use 3 amps for better heat control and you will also get much better runtime.

I try to keep the above listed led's in stock, I also try to keep the newest and most popular bins and color temps from cool whites / neutrals / and warm white high CRI models.

Now as to levels in drivers , most of the time the levels are fixed and can't be changed. As new drivers become available the offerings will change on this page so please check it first. I often will have to change depending on what drivers I have available to me at the time so please check this page and I will update as needed.

Please specify what host and batts you are using when inquiring about a module or led. Just remember if you don't see it or don't understand something just write as I don't mind helping but check this page first. These are not try and buy!

Now that said the search button for the forum has a wealth of knowledge, much more than I can ever remember and usually with in days of a new led release runtimes and lumens are often posted please check the forum's search box as it is invaluable.

When ordering please post your order in this thread plus put details in Paypal notes of what emitter and tint ordered/ include choice of reflector / # of levels / check to see if shipping address is visible . Also please list CPF Nickname in paypal notes.

Shipping is 3 working days Although next day is not unusual Shipping confirmations are sent when mailed

Hi All this will be a NEWS SECTION where I will post NEW items and such.

I have started another section so there is not so much information a person has to parse. Most of the offereing are the same and of course the QUALITY will always be there.

I have a couple of new emitters I am working with and will post once I feel comfortable they will work as they should.

4/7/2012 LOW POWER VAMPIRE DRIVERS

HI

OK Will Quiles has made some Very Low Voltage Drivers, these are for draining every last drop of voltage from old alkaline or NIMH batts. They will work up to 3 volts so you can use a 1XCR123 primary. You can read about it in his thread HERE at Will's Joule Thief thread , I have had many requests for so called vampire modules that would do just this run for long periods of time and drain every drop of juice left in the batts. Now these are not super duper bright lights but are certainly bright enough to walk around with and use in many other tasks. They make good emergency lights and everyone has old remote batts and toy batts.

I have tested these with a 3C daylight white XPG and a 3C XML and what I have found is that the XPG and XML are about the same brightness when running with a new 1XCR123 primary, the XPG will have a slightly better hotspot and the XML slightly more floody but basically the same brightness. I would say at 3 volts the brightness is slightly brighter than the LOW level on one of my stock XPG modules.

I also tested at 1.5 volts and the XPG was brighter than the XML but both could be used in a emergency lighting situation. I believe the reason the XPG is brighter is that the VF of the XPG is lower.

The way Will and I are working this at this time is if you want me to build your module go to his thread and buy the driver from him and have him send the drivers to me. The cost for me to build is the posted price on this thread for the emitter you want. If you choose a XPG then it will be $35 as posted, I am including potting for no upcharge on these modules. If you choose a XMl then it will be the standard $40. Shipping is included in the US as always.

As for emitters about any of the Cree emitters will work but if you looking for long lasting I think you will find that the lower VF emitters such as XPG or XPE will be brighter longer. This can be any of the tints that I stock and you can also use colors such as red

Hi all

A few of you have asked for the Nichia neutral 92CRI so I have ordered a few of the emitters. They are on backorder but there is no need to pre order as I am sure there will be enough. Once I get them I will post in the thread as I see no need to clutter the forum with a separate thread. They should price the same as a XPG module.
As always I am trying to keep what you all are looking for.

I'm not Nailbender but yes, he does and yes, it does fit. These are great modules. An optic is sort of like a lens. It's more like a beam shaper. It takes the place of the reflector and causes the light to be thrown in a reasonably tight beam. I've been meaning to do comparative beamshots for ages. Maybe I'll have time this week...

Hi All

Thanks for all the good wishes, it has taken me about twice as long for recovery as I was originally told but maybe that is because I have more than twice as many holes in me as I was told I would have 🙂 Anyway I am back up sitting for longer periods and hope to get all the PM and posts answered by end of tomorrow.

I also hope to be back in the shop Tuesday, I am sure I will be a bit slower but it won't take long to catch up! I should be able to answer PM's and posts daily after today.

Thanks to RCantor for answering the one post, as he said if you like the look of a surefire with a lens then you will like this but if you are looking at the lens to increase throw over a smooth reflector then you may be dissappointed. As he said it will smooth out some of the rings that are visible when wall hunting with a XRE in a smooth reflector and will keep the beam tight but it will not give better throw than a reflector will.

If you want throw, just ask Dave (Nailbender) to take off the reflector and just ship the 1.4A XR-E pill. Then screw it onto an Ahorton Aspheric P60 spacer kit available here

Before few days I made ​​such a combination and must say that i am very satisfied. Using in L2P solarforce, the light have a nice bright beam and the spot has very nice projection and size of the led. Excellent thrower for my needs.
