Re: low-power boost driver: 1.0V or 1.2V

The reason that curious minds want to know is it 1.2V or 1.0V is simple: The answer will tell us, "Will my nickel-metal-hydride cell continue to provide regulated electrons even after the cell is nearly exhausted?"

Hi Paul

You know I really don't know:confused: I think I have one built up if I do I will see. I know they are marketed as A and AA drivers. I will charge a couple of nimh A and see how it does and let you know.

For those of you who arent lucky enough to get your hands on a M61 I highly reccomend getting a NB SST-50.
Lucky? From the looks of your beamshots and the sound of your description, why bother with the Malkoff at all!

Dont get me wrong, The Malkoff is awesome.

I was just suprised at how close the beams of these 2 two are. They are almost the same.

How hard do you push your XRE units? The warm one you modded recently is fabulous, now I want to push the maximum output and throw.

Thanks,

J

Hi

They are rated at 1.2 amps but I get 1.1 out of them. That is already over driving XRE's. Cool white are rated at 1 amp the neutral and warms are rated at 700ma.

I am sure some may push higher but it will soon get to a point of diminishing returns. You will also shift tint the warm and neutrals if you go much higher than what we did.

Cool white you can get a little hotter as they are rated higher.

I'm sorry Dave, I was having a brainfart:shakehead!
I was wondering about your r2's.

Is the output ~250lm? With throw comparable to the modded unit?

HI J

Yes the output should be 250 maybe 260, throw is at least comparable maybe a bit better as the R2 are a bit more efficient.

thanks

I got my red XP-E module day before yesterday. It's BRIGHT. Thanks for the quick service!

It's a 5-mode driver. I accidentally did some combo that disabled the flash modes. Does anybody know the combo to re-enable them?

Got my 3 level SST-50 direct drive today. So far this thing is awsome. By the way it does fit the Lu60 assembly that I asked about just fine. It looks like I will like it a lot even though at this point I'm judging by the beam/output in the office.

I do have a question. I got the direct drive and would have probably wanted a regulated drop in if I had thought to specify that when I ordered. My question is how will the direct drive behave differently to the regulated? Does it dim as the batteries get weak?

:paypal: I'm ready to order an XRE R2, SMO, 1 level, driven as hard as the LED can possibly stand and focused for the tightest possible beam.
Also, to run on 2x123 primaries.

Thanks Dave!!

Got my Linger Special in today!! Awesome!!!!

Time for my next order. Please tell me if the below is doable and shoot me the price shipped via PM. Thanks Dave!!

SST-90 (neutral 5700K)
1 mode regulated (6 volts max?? Or can you do higher voltage in 1 mode?)
LOP reflector and additional SMO reflector that I can easily swap

What would be the approx lumens and run time be on 2 CR123?

Please let me know. Paypal waiting.

Can I use an AW18650/2600 with an SST-50? If so, would I see an increase in output with an IMR?

Thanks,
Russ

I got my red XP-E module day before yesterday. It's BRIGHT. Thanks for the quick service!

It's a 5-mode driver. I accidentally did some combo that disabled the flash modes. Does anybody know the combo to re-enable them?

Please at least glance at the paper work that is supplied, you never know what you may be missing. The paper work will describe how to change groups. Please PM me if you are having trouble with the module since I probably will know what is up.

Hi Russ

Sure you can use either of those, any combo of batts from 3.6 to 6 volts. The IMR and 2600 are both rated at higher amps so yes they will be a bit brighter.

Yes the light will dim as the batteries weaken. It will not blink or down shift to a lower level.

All that said I have never had a problem knowing when to change batteries and have never blown a PCB on the batts.
Since these are bought for brightness I myself have no problem knowing when to change as I like it bright also.

There was very clear instructions supplied in the package. In my excitement I had left the sheet in there, figuring it was just an invoice I'd get later.
:thanks:

Does this mean that you preffer the direct drives?

When I ordered, I was too hasty, as usual, and didn't see you have to choose for a 3-level drive. As I'm no electronics specialist, I thought that direct drive was only possible for a single level. Well, as long as I learn something, it's a good sign! I guess I'll get direct drives...

I didn't specify OP reflector neither, as I always suppose that OP is standard if you don't want a dedicated thrower. Now I hope that assumption was right!

If you order, don't do as me, read it all, read it again and be sure that you don't forget to specify anything that may be important for you. I hope I'm lucky and the maker thinks the same way as I do (poor Dave...). I'm confident though that I'll get seriously good dropins, sometimes it's even better not to specify everything, as the maker of the holy light grales often knows best how it should be! :D

Currently, my dropins probably hang around where no ashes came by, parcels to Europe will have a delay of at least 5 days, probably more... :sigh:

Hi Buddy

Just go to low level and at about 5 to 10 seconds will be a blink turn light off and when turned back on it will be in a different group, 3 groups on that UI.

Just remember don't turn off at blink in low and nothing will change.

Cheers

Dave
