Yes, it is "brighter". Up close it will wipe out the HID. It will not have the same throw with the factory reflector, and It does not have the same color output .
One nice thing is you will not have to modify the reflector, the P7 fits pretty well into the factory opening.
Handling the heat transfer will be the biggest issue the plastic housing is not the best conductor even in water. My uneducated guess is, a large heat-sink with proper contact in the barrel may handle it.
That is an interesting idea, I have a couple of flooded units hanging out here at the shop that just might get modded. :thumbsup:
