I been running my P91 with 2 IMR 18650's for about 5 hours on dog walks.

I tried the Fivemega 2C hosts with 2 Li-on KD cells and it worked for a long and bright 45 minute dog wallk.

Then I tried 2 IMR C cells and the lamp = :poof:

P91 and 2 IMR C cells is a bad idea.

Thanks for letting us know.

It's always good to know these things, but a shame you had to take one for the team to find out

I'd never try a P91 with those big *** IMRs... Nor any other SureFire HOLA, for that matter.
What about the MN21? I was under the impression that 2xIMR 18650s would work great with that bulb. I was going to try it, but now I'm not so sure...

The original poster and I am referring to 'C' sized IMR cells, which is 26500. That's way larger than a 18650 cell. The MN21 will probably survive on a pair of 18650 IMRs, because its massive current draw will sag those cells, preventing heavily overdriving the bulb. 2x26500 IMRs, on the other hand, would definitely kill the MN21 instantly.

I've blown a P91 with 2 IMR 16340 cells and AW's softstart. I slowly ramped it up to high, and It worked fine for 30 seconds, then :poof: Goes to show that even the small IMR cells can blow this lamp.

What are you guys charging your IMR123's to ?

4.1V or 4.2?

( I only take mine to 4.1V )

I was just about to have a blast at the P-91 and 2 x IMR123's just now before I saw this.

I run the Fm1794 in an E2D on 2 x IMR123's and havent had a problem...It is bright so was thinking hoping 2 x IMR123's was good, but maybee I have a little added resistance?

The P91 seemed to work fine with IMR 18650 cells. It was how MrGman took the lumen readings. I then keeped using it with those cells untill I took possesion of the fivemega 2c body.

It did work perfectly with the KD "C" li-0n cells. I then tried the IMR C cells and :poof::poof::poof:

At least I got around 6 hours using IMR 18650 cells:twothumbs

We have had plenty of reports of MN21s popping on 2xIMR18650s, which is why I believe that any of the SF HOLA lamps are going to be really hard to keep alive long on a pair of large IMR cells.
