I'm glad to see you've found your way here from the MarketPlace, chadz46. There are many members here who will be happy to advise you.

Re: paint inspecter needs help

I'm having some trouble figuring out what you're looking for. A 5-foot light that can light up large areas but only a 2-by-6 foot square seems a little odd, as requests go. Do you mean a pocket flashlight (five inches long?) that can light up large patches of a 2-by-6 foot test sample very evenly?

The warm-tint Zebralight headlamps sound like a great suggestion. My idea was a Surefire E2E with a diffuser and low-powered lamp that runs a while.

Re: paint inspecter needs help

+1 on the H501W, its warm tint will make differentiating colours much easier. If they had that warm tint for their 18650 powered headlamp, i would be interested in getting one for myself.

Re: paint inspecter needs help

do what any half desent body shop does, they use full spectrum flurecent light, in paint booth. when i worked at the shop we used verilux 6250k bulbs. as for shadows, that has nothing to do with light, but at what angle you point it. and surfice itself.
there are tonns of fluresent light fixtures on the market, that use 5' bulbs. from 1 to 5 lights per fuxture.

did you really mean 5 FEET, or you meant 5 inches??????

Well, they have indeed ... the H60w:

"The ZebraLight H60w is a high performance all aluminum headlamp with a warm white tint LED. Powered with one 18650 battery...."

Re: paint inspecter needs help

I work for the military, these are already done sitting in a large field I have to make sure all bolts and under chassis are painted every nook and crany must have paint on it

Re: paint inspecter needs help

are you looking at carc tan? because I would suggest a xexon light that what our inspectors use. I have used a cool white led to check but the color rendering is not enough to disingish between the tan and the primer underneath. I will try a warm(5a Q3) tomorrow.

Re: paint inspecter needs help

A Surefire A2 Aviator is the most consistently good light for color-rendering on the market IMHO, but it only runs for 45 minutes on one set of batteries.

A P90 host with a pair of 17500 batteries or 18500 batteries would be very cheap to run, but buy-in would be a bit expensive.

Re: paint inspecter needs help

The quality department at work uses this Brinkmann but there should be many others smaller. But I will check the warm led tomorrow.
I think what chrontius said about the p90 host would be the best idea.

Re: paint inspecter needs help

Sounds like you could use a multi-level floody light with a high-cri SSC P4. There are several lights that can be modded with one.

Or this....

That looks pretty good for what the OP is requesting!

As a cheaper alternative, I'd suggest the following combination:
SureFire G3 with included P90 lamp
2x AW 17500 Li-Ion rechargeable cells
Li-Ion charger (such as WF-139 charger)

That combo will give you about 1 hour per charge of bright, white, incandescent light. Warm LEDs might work for what you are wanting, but it sounds more like a job for an incandescent IMO.

Well sorry the Q3 5A tint is not very good at this task. I would see if someone could try the high CRI led or stick to the Xenon lights.

Re: paint inspecter needs help

OK. also what we are looking to do is mount this light on our paint guns and also run 2 laser beams about 10 to 12 inches apart so our painters know if the fan spray is correct out all times
