Hi all,

As you may know I've been working on a penlight for my girlfriend. She's been using her Streamlight Stylus, but we all know a flashaholics girl can't be using no stock wussy light /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jpshakehead.gif

So with enormous thanks to Arc Mania for the Microconverter and Larry for his micro can I was able to design a 2xAAA penlight that runs a 1W Q3JW HD with a cut (way) down NX05 optic.

I just finished it up tonight, but there's only one problem. Since it's not anodized yet, it won't turn off /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/huh.gif

Other than that it's pretty cool. Plus it's my very first original completed scratch built.

Exactly 0.500" in diameter (Arc AAA size) and 4 3/4" long from front to button.

O-rings throughout including the switch. Push buttom momentary with twist constant on. Clip from an Arc AAA (huge thanks to zorba for sending them to me FOR FREE!)

Fatter tailcap holds the clip on when you slide the light into your pocket.

Still a lot of work to be done, but here it is...more or less.

Well, I suppose that means that we can expect some runtime data /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Nice work, Chief. I'm glad to see that your particular micro works OK on 2X alkaline. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

l to r, top to bottom:
Battery tube with o-ring, switch button with spring and o-ring, tailcap,
front bezel, forget the lens gasket, mineral glass lens (note fingerprint to increase light transmission /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif ) optic, center section that contains the optic and module with o-rings, microcan, retaining ring

I'm no genius. I like to think of myself more as a...destroyer /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

From scratch, no less. And to think I was already so impressed by your 4AA-to-D holder!

Very cool! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif I am very impressed! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif

You're getting dangerous with that lathe there Chief! Watch out SureFire... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yellowlaugh.gif Makes me really wish I had one too (especially on sleepless nights like tonight)!
Great work!

Very, very nice Chief!!! If your girl friend doesn't like it, I'm first in line!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Does the center section attach via epoxy to the to the body or is it threaded?

Jon

It's threaded. I already have a hard time getting it away from her /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

She's very pleased. She spent all evening looking into my mouth saying "Wow! I can see everything!"
