lets make it short:

a led that might give 80 lumens at max (or 150 Lumens at boost, wherever that might come from)
can not run for 80 hours at max with 3 AAs
the time it would run (if that light used a circuit that offers even a little bit of regulation) were 6 hours.

Petzls generally are very direct-drive like. So at 1 - 2 hours runtime, brightness is somewhere half of the beginning and then the direct-drive effect of getting dimmer on lower rates, and thus greatly expanding the time the light shows some glow, starts.

Better lights, like the ones from Princeton Tech f.e., offer steady regulation that keeps the light at the starting level but for much shorter time.

I like the Myo XP better than the Apex.
It's smaller/lightweight,more comfortable to wear and the beam is better. Both, the regular beam of the Myo is less ringy and cleaner as the Apex one and even more so the diffused beam compared to the blueish nichia one of the Apex.Throw in good NiMHs and it stays bright for a looong time.
