I asked them right after their MagLED's came out, and their response was "we don't succumb to new gimmick technologies like the snake light fad."

What the hell? What in the world are they talking about.
I always thought a single 5mm LED Solitaire would be awesome for the average person. Sell it for $10 or under and people would buy them up like crazy! Cause the Solitaire is completely useless as a flashlight and it REALLY REALLY needs an update!
BTW, the Maglite LED lights don't seem to be moving as well as the regular Maglites.
Perhaps because:
1) $25 - $30 for an AA light that
2) claims 3 watts, but actually runs at a fraction of that, and
3) quits working when the internal contacts bend the first time you drop it.

You do realize that Mag doesn't make drop-ins for the MiniMags, right? Completely different hardware for the LED MiniMag, and no parts (except the batteries) are direct swaps to the MiniMags. The D cell LED Mags are the ones that are just a regular Maglite with a different (LED) bulb replacement, the rest of the flashlight is the same, and they sell LED drop-ins to replace the bulb on a C or D cell Maglite. There are several companies making MiniMag LED drop-ins, but not Mag themselves........and they did not even have the drop in led mods for the maglites, which is one of the brands they carry. I was dissappointed, since I have three minimags that need to be changed over. Guess I'll have to check somewhere else......

I doubt Maglite discusses their long term marketing strategies with some shmo that calls their 800 number. Back up your slander with references next time before spreading rumors about a reputable US company bub.

I am wrong and I apologize because the tort is not slander, its defamation and possibly libel as well because it is in writing. It is not cool, nor is it legal. I'll be happy to inform Maglites legal department if you insist.
Defamation: intentional publication (communication to a third party) of a false statement that is harmful to the plaintiff's reputation. Look up Cubby v. Compuserve, NY 1991, and while you're at it, how about Stratton Oakmont, Inc. v. Prodigy Services Co, 1994, or how about Sidney Blumenthal v. Matt Drudge and AOL, 1997.
