I think Chindogu is an art worthy of aspiring to. I think that some of us, and I certainly include my self, are possibly on the path. When you browse through the Akihabra, it is clear why Chindogu has come to be. You can trust me on this.

Ahh, but Don - your stuff is actually pretty useful and practical. Most of what qualifies as 'chindogu', you wouldn't want to be caught dead with in public.

Take your M6 setup, for example. I could see most of the CPF members walking around with that, if they had M6s to put in it. Heck, most of 'em would probably walk around with it even if they didn't have the M6..

However, there is probably a lot of borderline chindogu which the general public wouldn't give a second thought to, but which gadget freaks like me jump all over..

Oh man. I had a uniquely profound post going here, and my daughter smacked the power button. Ooh, I hate it when that happens. And if you knew what I had to go through to get this broadband connection set up again, you'd probably be in as good a mood as I am already this morning!

So I've managed to get my lovely daughter into her straight jacket and it sounds like the screaming will taper off any moment now...

Chindogu. Isn't that when you carry too much weight in the face, and that second (or third) chin just dogs you. Say it again with me: Chindogu.

On some level, I always knew the concept of Chindogu existed, but never realized there was a name for it. And yes I do tend to fall into that heap. Does it count when you spend $6000 on a technology that will save about $1 worth of energy - when saving energy is the primary concern? That's a bit out in left field, but it does sort of fall into the "cool technology just for technology's sake" catagory.

I'm not proofing this... posting now before I lose it...

Don't believe everything you read. Word on the street is that Darell didn't really go on vacation. He just said that to run the odds up in Vegas on not meeting the deadline. Word is, someone unknown, is betting heavy @ 16 to 1 that he'll make it. I think it's a scam with Graham & Darell trying to make some bucks. Hope the BIG GUYS don't get word of this.

The same person? Nooooo... that would mean that we'd be one person with serious mental problems and a bizarre split personality, rather than being two separate knowledgeable, talented, witty, and good looking (well, one of us at least..) individuals..

Well, whichever of us is the real one must be pretty busy, looking after a wife and daughter in California as well as a fiance in Tokyo. Unless one of those lifestyles is just a figment of the imagination. But we've seen photos of Darell's wife and daughter. And no photos of mine..

That means

noooo...it can't be true. I'm real, dammit. (identity crisis in action)
