Possibility of modding Streamlight TLR-1 to Cree?

In a thread in the LED forum, I was asking if any weapon lights are being made with a Cree LED, and someone suggested that it might be possible to mod one in. Can someone with more technical knowledge than I tell me if such a mod is possible, and if so, how practical?
