Potentiometer question.

I am in the process of building a maglite that uses the 5761 30w 6v bulb and I was wondering if there is a potentiometer that can handle that bulb without burning up. I used a cheap potentiometer on a led I had in my maglite and it worked fine but as soon as I put in my pelican 3854 (ROP) bulb it just burned up. If there is a potentiometer that can handle the 5761 does anyone know where I can buy one. Thanks

You would need a 0.6 ohm, 15 watt pot. I rather doubt that such a thing even exists. And, fwiw, a 15W pot would be unlikely to fit inside a Maglite barrel.

A more complex electronic solution is required.
