Potting a driver board

Do you know epoxy shrink? I don't know how much long would they cure/shrink but it's no good if it shrinks when it's hard. Components on your board may be tear off their pads. I have no data on this just a thought. It may not actually happen because lights below does not have the problem.

Some lights I know that has epoxy potted in their circuit board are Arc AAA, Arc LS First run, ARC4+, CMG Infinities. Surefire does not pot their circuit boards with epoxy, they coat them with a layer of silicone pcb coating.

Try "pcb lacquer" cheap too but big can, last forever :D.

I just did a search on "circuit board potted with epoxy" they are there but you gotta find the right "epoxy mix" for potting circuit boards. Btw, your circuit board is probably the standard FR4 which is basically fireproof epoxy resin fiberglass!

What about this? Picked it up at Home Depot today...claims it does not shrink or expand.

I do have first-hand experience with epoxy shearing off components off ArcAAA boards. Since that I switched to RVT silicone for potting.

There's a difference between epoxy and the black potting compound used in some lights.

That kind of epoxy is a glue that sets rock hard. I'm not sure it's the best choice for potting things. Personally I'd look for something more specifically designed for circuit encapsulation.

The big caulking tube you buy in home depot for sealing stuff? Or the Permatex ultra black/copper type?
